England-Malta is a match on the ninth day of Group C of Euro 2024 qualifiers and is played Friday at 8:45 p.m.: predictions.
There are two days left in qualifying but England is among the small group of teams (eight) that have already secured a pass to the German European Championship, scheduled for next summer. The decisive victory came last October, at the end of the match against Italy at Wembley: after Scamacca’s goal, Gareth Southgate’s men rose to the occasion, slowly crumbling the Azzurri’s certainties.
Two goals from the unleashed Kane and one from Rashford upended Spalletti’s team (3-1) and allowed the Englishmen to close out the games with two rounds left. First place is also secured, as England will only need to collect a point in their next two matches (Malta and North Macedonia) to finish ahead of everyone and make sure they start from the first bracket when the Euro 2024 group draw is made. They cannot afford distractions, then, Kane and his teammates, although Southgate will take the opportunity to give minutes to those who have played little so far, making some experiments. The coach will not be able to count on Jude Bellingham: the phenomenal Real Madrid midfielder has left training camp with a shoulder problem. Besides him, Colwill, Maddison, Wilson and Dunk will also be missing from the roll call: summoned in extremis are Palmer, Lewis and Konsa.
Against Malta, Guéhi, Gallagher, Bowen and Alexander-Arnold could therefore find space in the starting lineup. Johnstone of Crystal Palace will play in goal.

Despite a full-bodied turnover, England should get another wide win against a selection that has not collected even a point in seven matches, on a par with San Marino, Gibraltar, Cyprus and Liechtenstein. Only two goals have been scored so far by Michele Marcolini’s men, who will struggle to limit the damage in the English capital.
The prediction
England will lift its foot off the accelerator and despite already having qualification and first place in its pocket should score three to six goals against the modest Maltese selection.
