Eintracht Frankfurt-Werder Bremen is a Bundesliga match of the twenty-first day and is played on Saturday at 18:30: TV, formations, predictions.
It was an afternoon to forget for Oliver Glasner’s Eintracht Frankfurt in Cologne. Napoli’s next opponents in the Champions League – the first leg of the round of 16 is scheduled for next Tuesday in Germany – inexplicably collapsed at home to Steffen Baumgart’s Billy Goats a week ago. A 3-0 defeat with no chance of appeal, in stark contrast to the growth shown in recent months.
Eintracht had not lost since last October, and before the trip to Cologne they had racked up nine positive results between cups and the league. Randal Kolo Muani, striker of the French national team, has also remained unbeaten. In the course of this streak, he has recorded the numbers of a thoroughbred striker, scoring nine goals and providing four assists: undoubtedly one of the greatest dangers for Luciano Spalletti’s Azzurri. The transalpine striker was affected by the grey performance of his team, who had not finished an official match without scoring for over four months. The two matches against Werder Bremen and Napoli will tell us if the Cologne match was just an accident. Now, meanwhile, the race for fourth place must be resumed.
Eintracht are averaging two goals per game
Glasner’s men, who boast the second-best attack in the league alongside Borussia Dortmund and Leipzig – only Bayern Munich have scored more – are two points behind Freiburg, but the risk of being left behind in such a tight Champions League battle is very high.
Werder Bremen, who after two consecutive victories against Wolfsburg and Stuttgart surrendered 2-0 to a dazzling Borussia Dortmund. Europe is perhaps still too big an objective for the green-and-whites, who can in any case count on an enormous advantage over the relegation zone: salvation, the goal set at the beginning of the season, is now practically in the safe.
The prediction
The feeling is that the Leipzig drubbing, for Eintracht Frankfurt, is destined to remain an isolated case: they should return to success in the match against Werder Bremen, a tricky team but one that has now reached its goal. The goals, however, should not be lacking: on the one hand we have one of the most prolific attacks in the Bundesliga (40 goals in 20 matches), on the other hand the fourth worst defence.
