Eintracht Frankfurt-Bayern Munich, Bundesliga: lineups, predictions

by Mike

Eintracht Frankfurt-Bayern Munich is a Bundesliga match of the 14th day and is played on Saturday at 3:30pm: TV, lineups, predictions.

Bayern Munich was not among the teams involved in the German Cup this week because a month ago it was surprisingly eliminated by a team playing in Germany’s third tier, Saarbrucken, one of the two sides (along with Leipzig) that have taken the chance to beat the Bavarians this year.

Little Saarbrucken, not content, in the round of 16 of the national competition achieved a new feat, eliminating another Bundesliga team, Eintracht Frankfurt (2-0), which just so happens to be hosting Bayern Munich on this league day at Deutsche Bank Park. Yet another disappointment for the men of Dino Toppmoller, Julian Nagelsmann’s former assistant who took Oliver Glasner’s place on the Adler bench last summer. Eintracht has not won in exactly one month, and in the last four games played between cup and league they have suffered as many defeats. In addition to losing to Saarbrucken, in the last 30 days Trapp and his teammates have also surrendered to Stuttgart and Augsburg in the league and to the Greeks of Paok in the Conference League, a misstep that cost them first place in the group.

In the standings, Eintracht Frankfurt is now only seventh, with eight points to make up on fourth place. Second place, however, for Bayern Munich.

The defending German champions, however, played one less game than leading Bayer Leverkusen, having been unable to play their match with Union Berlin a week ago, which was postponed due to heavy snowfall in Bavaria. The Aspirins slowed down, stopped by Borussia Dortmund: this means that Bayer Munich could potentially share the summit with Xabi Alonso’s men.

The prediction

Bayern Munich, back from a week and a half of (forced) rest, should be able to get the better of a slumping Eintracht Frankfurt by clinching its seventh consecutive success. The Bavarians will in all likelihood finish ahead in both halves of the game. Watch out for Kane, who has already scored 23 goals since landing in Bavaria.
