Paulo Dybala could return to the role of pure trequartista: Daniele De Rossi could in fact deploy him behind Romelu Lukaku or, even, behind two forwards.
Andrea Agostinelli, a former Italian footballer and coach, spoke to TVPlay microphones to discuss how De Rossi could exploit Paulo Dybala, returning him to the trequartista role. According to Agostinelli, Mourinho has mismanaged many players, and he certainly hasn’t made life easy for Dybala.
“No one was thinking about Mourinho’s exoneration,” the interviewee began. “I was convinced that the divorce was coming but at the end of the season. But then I went and looked at some numbers… And the numbers always tell the truth regardless of the team’s play. In 96 games he averaged 1.60 points. And there is another figure that is even more significant: in the 34 big matches played he had 8 wins, 8 draws and 18 defeats.”
For Agostinelli, Mourinho has also mismanaged the group: “He has antagonized many players and has not offered a performance worthy of this square. Certainly, then, at least in my opinion, he has weighed a relationship with the players that has increasingly gone sour from a coach who always accuses the team; another coach would never have allowed himself to criticize the squad after various defeats. Then for example it was absurd the management on the field of Dybala who had to chase opponents despite his precarious physical condition. “

For the interviewee, it was not the derby lost that led to Mourinho’s exoneration. “The management with its statements over time has somehow always felt attacked. I put myself in the shoes of a club that pays a coach handsomely and every time has to feel that the roster is not adequate. “
“Then you have to be honest,” the interviewee continued, “Roma under Mourinho played some of the ugliest soccer in Serie A without a clear identity. The club invested in his technical leadership to enhance the squad but was disappointed.”
Finally, Agostinelli spoke about Napoli: “The problem with Napoli is that they still talk about last year, it was a one-off season. Rudi Garcia put his own spin on it but so did the players, while Mazzarri made a smart move. He tiptoed in, saw that the problem was also in the head and continued on the 4-3-3 even though it is not his way of playing. Not seeing improvement now he will go back to 3-5-2 or 3-4-2-1 also because of the presence of Kvaratskhelia.”
