Borussia Dortmund-Wolfsburg, Bundesliga: odds, predictions

by Michael

Borussia Dortmund-Wolfsburg is a Bundesliga match of the fifth day and is played on Saturday at 15:30: TV, line-ups, predictions.

Borussia Dortmund’s Champions League adventure got off to an uphill start. After holding out for an entire half of the game, the Parisians came out on top at the start of the second half, scoring two goals in the space of 10 minutes, first through the usual Mbappé and then through ex-Psg Hakimi, who scored the final 2-0.

In the so-called iron group of this edition of the cup with big ears, Borussia are the only team still with zero points, as Milan and Newcastle ended in a draw. Edin Terzic’s side will be looking to turn the page in the Bundesliga and follow up their fine victory a week ago at Freiburg, who were beaten 4-2 at home. Emre Can and his team-mates had been overthrown in the first half (2-1) and seemed to be heading for their first defeat of the season, but in the second half they went on the rampage, scoring three goals with Malen, Hummels and Reus and taking home three important points against a team that could be a threat in the top four. For Borussia it is the second victory in four matches after the one obtained in the opener against Cologne (1-0). This weekend they return to Signal Iduna Park, where another potential direct clash is scheduled, this time against Wolfsburg.

Wolfsburg led by Wind

The green-and-whites, although not as undefeated as the yellow-and-whites, have one more point thanks to three successes against Heidenheim, Cologne and Union Berlin.

The only defeat Niko Kovac’s men suffered was at Hoffenheim, who won 3-1 in their last game before the national team break. The wolves seem equipped to conquer a place in Europe, led by the goals of centre-forward Wind, author of five of the seven goals scored so far by Wolfsburg. Former Atalanta player Joakim Maehle also settled in immediately, his goal deciding the match against Union Berlin.

The Prediction

Last season, Wolfsburg suffered one of the worst defeats in their history at Signa Iduna Park, being overwhelmed by a scoreline of 6-0. This time, however, we should see a closer contest, also thanks to the excellent momentum of the guests, who are likely to score at least one goal.
