Borussia Dortmund v Union Berlin is a match for the seventh day of the Bundesliga and is played on Saturday at 15:30: TV, formations, predictions.
Borussia Dortmund are one of only three teams still unbeaten in the league, a record they share with leaders Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich. The Gialloneri are part of the large group at the top, which includes, in addition to Leipzig, outsiders such as Stuttgart and Hoffenheim, the biggest surprises of this first slice of the Bundesliga.
Edin Terzic’s team beat the hostile Sinsheim club on the final day, who had not known defeat since mid-August, when they surrendered to Freiburg in their opener. Hoffenheim were beaten 3-1 at home: at the PreZero Arena the striker Fullkrug, bought in the summer from Werder Bremen, unblocked, but captain Reus (third goal in as many league appearances) and Ryerson also finished on the scorers’ list. This week, however, Borussia Dortmund was busy in the Champions League: the ‘yellow wall’ had only a partial effect in the match against the Rossoneri. Borussia managed to avoid defeat at the end of a very balanced match (0-0), although Stefano Pioli’s team had the best chances. It was an important point, however, as in the previous match the Gialloneri had been defeated 2-0 in Paris by Psg.
Union Berlin are also coming off a Champions League challenge: after losing to Real Madrid in the second half of the opening match, they also fell to Braga.
Another defeat that hurts a lot, because it arrived at the end of the game (2-3) and that confirms the difficulties of Urs Fischer’s team in the non-possession phase. Union Berlin, despite the signing of an experienced defender such as Bonucci, has only once in nine matches kept its goal inviolate. Lately it has also been disappointing from the offensive point of view: in the last two Bundesliga rounds it lost to Hoffenheim and Heidenheim without scoring a single goal. Is the fairytale coming to an end? Too early to say. Meanwhile, Fischer will have to do without four players in the away match in Dortmund: Dehl, Schafer, Khedira and Knoche are absent. On the other hand, Bensebaini, who is disqualified, will be missing.
The prediction
Union Berlin seem to have lost their confidence and are certainly suffering from the double weekly commitment. It is unlikely that they will get a positive result against Borussia Dortmund, who appeared healthy and above all very solid. We expect a match of at least three goals in total.
