BAYER MUNICH – FREIBURG | Sunday 7:30pm
After nine league matches Freiburg are ahead of Bayern Munich. Yes, unbelievable but true. Yet the reality of the facts is this and shows that in Germany this year the hierarchies are not entirely respected, as first in the standings is not even Borussia Dortmund but Union Berino. Now, as the points in the standings that divide the two teams that will take the field on Sunday evening are only two, it is clear that for one more night the guests will be ahead. Then things should return to what is normal in the German league. Not least because Nagelsmann’s side, who cashed in on mathematical qualification for the Champions League round of 16 later in the week, have to get back to winning ways sooner or later in the Bundesliga.
Bayern did so against Leverkusen at home, but then were caught at the last second in last week’s match by Borussia Dortmund away. The Bavarians were already savouring victory against the yellow and black troops, but they were disappointed when Modeste beat Neuer with a header in the 92nd minute. In short, they also had to make up for this defensive inattention that cost them two points.
Of course, Freiburg are an in-form team who have beaten Nantes away in Europe in recent days. And then, until now, the visiting team has only collected one defeat in the season, that against Dortmund on the second day. No setbacks since then. It really seems to be time.
The Prediction
In a match with at least three goals in total, Bayern Munich should be able to put things right by winning and thus overtaking the visiting team in the standings. Few doubts as to who will really take this win.
