Bundesliga predictions September 13, 3:30 p.m.: the long unbeaten streak continues

by Mike

After debuting with a thrilling 3-3 draw against St. Pauli on the first day, Borussia Dortmund took its first three points of the season with a 3-0 win over Union Berlin at Signal Iduna Park. Once again, the undisputed driving force was Guinean striker Serhou Guirassy: the former Stuttgart player scored twice against the capital side, adding to his goal tally (he had already scored on his debut). Niko Kovac will once again be counting on his prolific striker to secure his first away win of the season: Heidenheim, one of two teams still on zero points along with Freiburg, has been warned.
Borussia Dortmund, meanwhile, is unbeaten in 10 games at home: counting last season as well, Kovac’s men have not lost since last March. Moreover, Heidenheim—which was further weakened in the final days of the transfer window by the departure of Scienza—has never managed to beat the Black and Yellows since being promoted to the top flight: in the 2024-25 Bundesliga, Borussia prevailed in both the first and second legs, scoring a total of six goals against the Red and Blues. A balanced match is expected between Union Berlin and Hoffenheim: the hosts need to turn the page after their defeat in Dortmund, but the Sinsheim club will also be looking to bounce back after their home defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt. The last few matches have been dominated by the capital side, including last February’s 4-0 win, but there is a feeling that Christian Ilzer’s team will manage to snatch at least a point this time around.

Predictions for the other matches

The match between Wolfsburg and Cologne, both still unbeaten, also promises to be exciting. On the one hand, the Green-Whites, who have picked up four points in their first two games against Heidenheim and Mainz, and on the other, a newly promoted side that has got off to a flying start – with wins over Mainz and Freiburg – and is surprisingly level on points with Bayern Munich and Eintracht Frankfurt. However, it is unlikely that Cologne will pull off another feat on the pitch of a Wolfsburg side that has looked in good shape so far.

Stuttgart, fresh from their narrow victory over Borussia Monchengladbach, will try to take advantage of Freiburg’s poor form, who have had a terrible start to the season: the visitors can be trusted in a match that should produce quite a few goals. We conclude with Leipzig, who returned to winning ways in the last round (2-0 against Heidenheim) after a shocking start at the Allianz Arena against Bayern Munich (6-0): in Mainz, the Roten Bullen have a good chance of avoiding defeat but are unlikely to keep a clean sheet.
