Serie A is back with a bang after the first break for international fixtures. The Allianz Stadium hosts the highly anticipated Italian derby between Juventus and Inter, with Igor Tudor’s Bianconeri dreaming of maintaining their perfect start and moving six points clear of the Nerazzurri, who suffered a surprise defeat two weeks ago at San Siro against a superb Udinese side (1-2).
The Old Lady currently tops the table alongside Napoli, Roma, and Cremonese. After their home win against Parma in their opening game, decided by goals from David and Vlahovic, Locatelli and his teammates also came away with three points from a difficult away game at Marassi, beating Genoa (0-1) thanks to a goal from the former Fiorentina striker, who remained in Turin despite the club’s desire to sell him following the collapse of contract renewal negotiations (he will most likely leave on a free transfer).
The other positive factor was the defense, which remains unbeaten. Bremer’s return is making the difference. It is no coincidence that, with the Brazilian on the pitch, Juve are back to keeping clean sheets. What’s more, after the transfer window closed, Tudor found himself with the strongest and most balanced attack in Serie A on paper, thanks to the additions of Zhegrova and Openda. Now the Croatian coach has at least two options for each position from midfield onwards.
Inter, on the other hand, rediscovered their fragility after their comeback defeat to the Friulians, and some certainties have been lost: in the space of a few days, Nerazzurri fans went from elation at the 5-0 win over Torino to concern about the misstep against the Bianconeri. As a result, Cristian Chivu is once again under scrutiny, and if he fails to get at least a positive result in Turin, the pressure on him could increase. Meanwhile, the club has taken remedial action by signing experienced defender Akanji, formerly of Manchester City, on the last day of the transfer window. On the other hand, Pavard has ended up at Marseille.
Juventus-Inter: the latest news on the lineups
Tudor will have to do without Cambiaso, who is still suspended, but he is unlikely to have Conceiçao available, who is struggling with a muscle problem. Since Zhegrova is not yet at his best, the Bianconeri coach could field Koopmeiners alongside Yildiz in midfield. David, Openda, and Vlahovic are vying for the center forward position: the Canadian is the favorite, but keep an eye on the Serbian, who has also scored for his national team, and the former Leipzig player. There are also doubts on the left: Joao Mario is under threat from McKennie and Kostic.
There is little news at Inter: Chivu is considering starting Akanji in defense, favoring him over Bisseck, who was among the worst players on the field against Udinese. In midfield, Sucic is competing with Mkhitaryan.

The prediction
A crucial match for both teams: Juventus, after building a dream attack, is looking for confirmation in an important head-to-head clash with the Nerazzurri; on the other hand, Inter will try to prove that the defeat against Udinese was just a blip. We expect a tight game, especially in the first half, and it cannot be ruled out that the Old Lady will record another X at the end of the first half, as in the matches against Parma and Genoa. In the last eight meetings between Juve and Inter, only once has the Over 2.5 been recorded: in Turin, there have been no more than two goals in this fixture since May 2021. In any case, Tudor’s team should at least avoid defeat.
