England vs. Andorra prediction: it won’t end like three months ago

by Mike

Three wins out of three, six goals scored and none conceded. England has already pulled away from the rest of Group K, showing its strength right from the start. No missteps for the Three Lions, who have been led since last January by Thomas Tuchel, in his first experience at the helm of a national team.

It must be said, however, that the English have yet to face the most dangerous opponent in the group on paper, Serbia: they will do so next week in Belgrade.

Before heading to the Balkans, however, they need to pick up three more points against modest Andorra, so that they can travel to the fiery Marakana with an even more conspicuous advantage and with first place effectively secured. The small principality’s team, after all, seems to have no chance after a depressing start: zero points in four games for the Pyrenean representative—not even a goal scored against eight conceded—which also failed to score against Latvia, with whom it should theoretically be battling to avoid finishing in last place. Tuchel will likely take advantage of this opportunity to experiment in this match, scheduled at Villa Park, Aston Villa’s stadium: there are several new additions to the squad, including former Genoa player Spence and Nottingham Forest midfielder Anderson, as well as Milan’s Loftus-Cheek, who has not been called up since 2018. Alexander-Arnold, who moved from Liverpool to Real Madrid in the summer, has been left out.

The prediction

In June, England “settled” for a single goal victory against Andorra, failing to put in a great performance despite fielding several regular starters. This time, we believe the margin of victory will be greater: Tuchel’s team will most likely score between three and six goals.

Probable lineups for England-Andorra

ENGLAND (4-2-3-1): D. Henderson; Livramento, Stones, Burn, Spence; Rice, J. Henderson; Bowen, Rogers, Rashford; Kane.
ANDORRA (5-4-1): Alvarez; Borra, Olivera, Llovera, San Nicolas, M. Garcia; Martinez, M. Vales, M. Rebes, Cervos; R. Fernandez.

POSSIBLE RESULT: 4-0
