The Fed must lower interest rates or face legal action. That is Donald Trump’s ultimatum as he continues his campaign against JPronostico Aston Villa-Newcastle: tense atmosphere ahead of farewell
Last year, Aston Villa and Newcastle finished with the same number of points, 66, but it was the Magpies who secured a place in the next Champions League thanks to their superior goal difference. It was a year to remember for the Bianconeri fans: after a long time, Newcastle won a title again, lifting the League Cup.
To be clear, it was back in 1969 that the Magpies last saw new additions to their trophy cabinet: this was made possible above all by the acquisition of the club in 2021 by the wealthy Saudi fund PIF, owner of the main teams in the Saudi Pro League, which immediately raised the level of the squad.
Newcastle, however, did not shine in their preseason tests: they failed to win a single friendly (four defeats and two draws), and the Isak affair is adding to the gloom: the Swedish striker (23 goals and six assists last season) is very close to joining Liverpool and is obviously unavailable for the Birmingham opener. The star of the match, however, will be the club’s main signing, winger Elanga, who arrived from Nottingham Forest. On the other side, Unai Emery is relying on Ollie Watkins: the English striker, who will no longer have competition from Rashford (gone after his loan spell at Manchester United), has scored five goals in friendlies. The Villans beat Villarreal 2-0 last weekend, while a few days earlier they thrashed Gian Piero Gasperini’s Roma: in between, they lost 3-1 to Roberto De Zerbi’s Marseille.

The prediction
There have been goals in three of the last four games (three wins for Newcastle and no draws). The feeling is that both teams will score again in what promises to be an eventful match. Aston Villa, however, seem to be in better shape than Newcastle, who have been disappointing in their friendlies and are also troubled by the Isak affair.
Probable line-ups for Aston Villa-Newcastle
ASTON VILLA (4-2-3-1): Bizot; Cash, Konsa, Pau Torres, Maatsen; Kamara, McGinn; Bailey, Guessand, Malen; Watkins.
NEWCASTLE (4-2-3-1): Pope; Trippier, Schär, Burn; Hall, Tonali, Bruno Guimarães, Joelinton; Elanga, Osula, Barnes. POSSIBLE RESULT: 2-1 Jerome Powell. What’s at stake?
Donald Trump threatens the Federal Reserve chairman again
“Idiot,” “moron,” “always late”… Donald Trump’s insults against Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell have been numerous in recent months. This week, however, the US president went so far as to make threats, saying he is considering major legal action.
Jerome “Too Late” Powell must lower rates NOW. […] The damage he has done by always being Too Late is incalculable.
The US president is therefore considering “major legal action” to counter the Fed chairman, whom he cannot fire as he had hoped a few months ago. Last May, the Supreme Court confirmed the central bank’s independence from the Trump administration.
Donald Trump wants the Federal Reserve to lower interest rates for several reasons. On the one hand, this would stimulate short-term growth while boosting Wall Street. On the other hand, it would ease the US debt burden, which has become catastrophic.
However, the risks of inflation and dollar depreciation are significant, prompting Jerome Powell to delay action. The battle is therefore far from over.
