Borussia Dortmund-Sevilla, Champions League: TV, line-ups, predictions

by Thorsten

BORUSSIA DORTMUND – SEVILLE | Tuesday 9pm

Not that last week’s victory was needed: but Borussia Dortmund certainly gave the decisive boost to Lopetegui’s bench by going on to win without really any problems in Spain last week. An unrecognisable Sevilla, who clearly did not play for the now former coach, who was carried away by the events that led not only to a very ugly league and Champions League situation, but also to the definitive departure of a coach who had done so well last year. It is obvious that Sampaoli cannot work miracles. Obvious that Borussia – who have six points in the standings and who could with a victory close the qualification discourse – are favourites. Yes, last weekend there was the big match against Bayern that took away physical and mental energy. But an opportunity like that, the home side, cannot miss it.

Above all, and let’s emphasise this, because Sevilla are not cured. In fact, far from it. The home draw against Athletic Bilbao in the La Liga round did move the league table up, but it also highlighted the problems of a team that on paper is even stronger than last year’s. But which in no way manages to pull itself out of the critical situation.

The Prediction

Of course there is a favourite team, and it is the home team. Borussia did not find any difficulties last week and might find a few more on Tuesday evening. But in the end they should still be able to take home the entire stake and thus close the qualification discussion.
