Before the break, Arsenal managed to reduce the huge gap between themselves and leaders Liverpool by beating Chelsea 1-0 in the derby and moving to within 12 points of the Reds, who were simultaneously defeated by Newcastle in the League Cup final. With nine games still to play, including a direct clash with Salah and his teammates, a comeback by the Gunners seems objectively unlikely, although Arne Slot’s team has lost some of its shine in recent times, as demonstrated by their elimination from the Champions League at the hands of PSG.
Mikel Arteta’s men are therefore aiming to further consolidate their second place and stay out of the increasingly fierce battle for a place in the top four (or five). Then, of course, there is the highly anticipated doubleheader in the Champions League against Real Madrid, which will inevitably take a lot of energy out of Arsenal. To be ready for the big occasion, the Gunners will be looking to take maximum points from their upcoming games against Fulham and Everton: two wins would be important to boost confidence ahead of the first leg against Los Blancos, scheduled for April 8.
Fulham, for their part, are dreaming of taking the scalp of another north London club after beating Tottenham 2-0 two weeks ago. This was a significant victory, as it allowed the Cottagers to climb to eighth place and get back in the race for a European spot. Fulham, too, in light of the tight standings, can aspire to a goal that seemed out of reach at the start of the season.
After all, the league remains the only “road” back to European competition, given that Marco Silva’s men were knocked out of the FA Cup quarterfinals by Crystal Palace (0-3) on Saturday.

The prediction
Fulham is turning into something of a bogey team for the Gunners, who haven’t beaten their city rivals in exactly two years (March 2023). In the last three previous matches, there have been two draws and one win for the Cottagers. The common denominator in these matches is goals, as both teams have always scored at least one goal each. In our opinion, goals should not be lacking at the Emirates Stadium either, with Fulham likely to give Arteta’s team a hard time, as they have been too inconsistent in their last league matches.
