Lecce vs Roma prediction: previous results speak for themselves

by Sabrina

No team in Europe’s top leagues has earned more points than Roma in 2025. It’s an impressive statistic, considering the state Claudio Ranieri found the Giallorossi in when he took over from Ivan Juric in November.
Yet it took the experienced Roman coach just a few months to turn things around and get Roma back in contention for a European place. In fact, after their sixth consecutive victory (1-0 against Cagliari two weeks ago), the capital club are officially back in the race for the Champions League, with fourth-placed Bologna just four points ahead.

Pellegrini’s schedule is not the easiest – there are several direct clashes on the horizon – but this Roma side is a completely different team from the one that ended last autumn flirting with relegation. The painful elimination from the Europa League at the hands of Athletic Bilbao does not seem to have left any lasting effects, even if the day after the match against Cagliari came the blow of Paulo Dybala’s injury, which will require surgery and rule him out for the rest of the season. Ranieri and his men want to prove that they can do without their most talented player and will try to extend their winning streak against a Lecce side in crisis before two thrilling matches against Juventus and Lazio. The Salento side are coming off four straight defeats – the last one at Marassi against Genoa – and have almost completely squandered the advantage they had built up over the third-last team. They are still three points behind Empoli, but while survival seemed within reach before, Marco Giampaolo’s team now risks finding itself in trouble again.

Lecce-Roma: the latest news on the line-ups

Everyone is available for Giampaolo, except for the long-term injured Marchwinski. The Salento coach’s doubts concern the defense, where Jean and Gaspar will compete for a place, and the midfield: Berisha is favored over Pierret. Up front, the well-established trio of Tete Morente, Krstovic, and Pierotti will start.

Ranieri hopes to recover Celik, but in Lecce, in addition to Dybala, the other injured players Rensch, Salah-Eddine, and Abdulhamid will be absent. The coach is counting heavily on Soulé, one of the best players in recent games, who will partner Pellegrini in the attacking midfield. There are also doubts in defense (Hummels-Nelsson) and in attack, with Shomurodov threatening Dovbyk.

The prediction

Previous results also suggest backing the Giallorossi: Lecce have not beaten Roma since 2012. Giampaolo’s men have woken up offensively in their last two games after failing to score in four consecutive matches, but it will not be easy to break down Ranieri’s defense, which has conceded only one goal in the last six games. The “Under 2.5” bet looks tempting.

Probable line-ups for Lecce-Roma

LECCE (4-3-3): Falcone; Guilbert, Baschirotto, Jean, Gallo; Coulibaly, Berisha, Helgason; Pierotti, Krstovic, Tete Morente.
ROMA (3-4-2-1): Svilar; Mancini, Hummels, N’Dicka; Saelemaekers, Koné, Paredes, Angelino; Soulé, Pellegrini; Dovbyk.
