Jacked top of La Liga by Barcelona, Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid secured their place in the round of 16 of the Champions League this week with their third win in as many games. The Blancos, after an extraordinary start to the season, seemed a little short of oxygen last weekend when they were stopped at home by Osasuna. But all that seemed to be Ancelotti’s team’s problems have been dispelled by playing in Europe, the natural habitat of the Madrid team. Obviously, there is no time to stop. In La Liga, too, the defending champions must get back on track. And against Getafe there should be no problem.
The hosts’ journey has not been so bad so far. Admittedly, the start was very difficult, but then, in the last five games, seven points arrived, which put things back on track a little. But now for Getafe, after last week’s home defeat against Valladolid, another one should come. That would not compromise anything for the future: for a team whose only objective is salvation, there are definitely other games to be won.
