Prediction Germany U21-Spain U21: a show in the pre-European test

by Thorsten

Final tests for the Under 21 national teams that in about three months will be engaged in the final phase of the European Championship, hosted by Slovakia. Two years ago, in the edition organized jointly by Romania and Georgia, it was England who reached the top step of the podium thanks to their success in the final against Spain: the match was decided by a goal from Curtis Jones, currently a midfielder for Liverpool.

La Rojita, who in the meantime also became Olympic champions in Paris last summer, want to make their voice heard again at a continental level. The Iberians have almost always excelled in this event and it is no coincidence that, in addition to being crowned European champions 5 times – the last time was in 2019 – they have often reached the final. Leading them in Slovakia will once again be Santi Denia, who has been confirmed despite being knocked out in the final by the English. Spain, by the way, has been drawn in the same group as Italy: as well as the Azzurri they will also have to face the Slovaks and Romanians. It will be important to arrive prepared for the event: after last Friday’s explosive 2-2 draw in the test match with the Czech Republic, Rojita will face Germany in Darmstadt.

The Germans, unlike Spain, must make up for the bad impression they made two years ago, when they finished bottom of the group with England, Israel and the Czech Republic, collecting just one point.

Today on the bench is the Italian-German Antonio Di Salvo, who showed he has what it takes in the qualifiers for Euro 2025. His Germany finished top of the group, unbeaten (8 wins and 2 draws). In their last friendly match, last Friday, a goal by Brighton Gruda, a young talent, was enough to beat Slovakia (0-1). Against Spain, midfielder Reitz, one of the most promising young players in German football, and Stuttgart striker Woltemade will be hoping to play a leading role. In Rojita, on the other hand, keep an eye on Leeds-owned center forward Joseph, who scored against the Czechs.
