Bundesliga predictions March 15: the fifth win in a row is coming

by Mike

With their double win against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League Euroderby, Bayern Munich also indirectly wanted to send a message to the championship. In the Bundesliga, in fact, the hopes of Xabi Alonso’s men, who were beaten 3-0 in the first leg and 2-0 in the second leg of the Champions League by the Bavarians, now seem laughable, since after 25 match days Vincent Kompany’s team continue to have a significant advantage (8 points) over the reigning champions, who are second and forced to play catch up.

Leverkusen didn’t take advantage of this even last weekend, with Bayern perhaps distracted by the cup challenge and sensationally losing at home to third-from-bottom Bochum (2-3): up by two goals after half an hour, Muller and his team mates became too relaxed, were reduced to ten men when Palhinha was sent off, and ended up suffering a stunning comeback in front of their own fans (their second league defeat). The feeling is that it was just a false step and the current Bundesliga leaders proved it last Tuesday in the Champions League too, winning at the BayArena in the second leg of the round of sixteen. It’s unlikely that Bayern Munich, Inter’s next opponents in the cup, will make another mistake in the space of a few days: we’re expecting a convincing win for the Bavarians at Union Berlin, who have been beaten badly in the last two previous matches (1-5 and 3-0). The Capitolini have a 6-point margin over the red zone and their victory over Eintracht Frankfurt a week ago was fundamental, thanks to which the red and whites have put a three-game losing streak behind them.

The forecast for the other matches

Bo Henriksen’s Mainz, on the other hand, are dreaming bigger and bigger: on the last matchday the Nullfunfer also prevailed over Borussia Monchengladbach, obtaining their fourth victory in a row.

A truly magical moment for a team that, if the championship ended now, would qualify for the Champions League. We can also have faith in Mainz in the match against Freiburg, who in any case have only 3 points less than their next opponents and haven’t lost in six rounds (they drew the last two 0-0). Augsburg would like to try and get into the fight for a place in Europe, fresh from the unexpected success at Signal Iduna Park against Borussia Dortmund, punished by a goal from Gouweleeuw (0-1): unbeaten for two months, the Bavarians will probably give Wolfsburg a run for their money, whose unbeaten streak has reached seven matches. Finally, Werder Bremen-Borussia Monchengladbach is a game with at least one goal for each team: the green and whites have bounced back with the victory against Leverkusen but the Foals are looking for redemption after the home defeat against Mainz that slowed down their run towards seventh place.
