Real Madrid-Barcelona is the final of the Spanish Super Cup and is played on Sunday at 8 p.m.: news, free streaming, likely lineups and prediction.
There have been no surprises so far in the 41st edition of the Spanish Super Cup. Unlike the Italian Super Cup – staged a week earlier also in Saudi Arabia – in this event we will witness the most awaited (but also the most expected) final: the infamous Clasico between Real Madrid and Barcelona, the two great rivals ready to vie for yet another trophy.
For Carlo Ancelotti and his men it is a chance to continue racking up titles: in case of success with the blaugrana for the Blancos it would be their third trophy of the season after the European Supercup, won last summer against Atalanta in Warsaw, and the Intercontinental Cup, won in December on Qatari soil against Mexico’s Pachuca. Beating Barcelona, however, always gives a special satisfaction, no cup can hold. And Real Madrid is so eager to “avenge” the very heavy 4-0 defeat last October, with the Catalans feasting at the Bernabeu on that occasion.
An unacceptable defeat for a club used to dominating far and wide. That was not the only misstep in the season for the reigning European and Spanish champions, but it is also true that in the last month Real has found more continuity: in the league, not without difficulty, they beat Sevilla (1-2) and Valencia (4-2), and then overwhelmed lowly Minera (0-5) in the King’s Cup. In the Super Cup semifinal, on the other hand, the Blancos managed to bend a stout Mallorca in the second half, which remained in the game until the end (the last two goals Real Madrid scored in the midst of recovery).
Flick can return to field Dani Olmo
Barcelona, on the other hand, had ended 2024 very badly: a disastrous December favored the overtaking at the top by the two Madrids, causing the blaugrana to slip to third place.
Hansi Flick’s men have bounced back in the new year: first the goleada handed to Barbastro in the Copa del Rey (0-4) and then last Wednesday’s fine success against Athletic Bilbao in the other Super Cup semifinal, with Yamal and Gavi (0-2) putting their respective signatures on a richly deserved victory for the Catalans. Against Real Madrid, Flick will be able to use both Dani Olmo and Pau Victor: Joan Laporta’s club won its appeal, with the Higher Sports Council agreeing with Barça’s suspension for violating Financial Fair Play. Defending the Blaugrana goal will again fall to former Juventus man Szczesny, who was preferred to Inaki Pena against the Basques. On the other hand, on the other hand, Ancelotti is anxious about the condition of Tchouaméni and Valverde, both of whom are not at their best after the challenge with Mallorca.

The Prediction
Real Madrid seems to be better off than Barcelona but it remains a very open prediction match since some important pawns in Ancelotti’s lineup are not at 100%. Compared to last October’s Clasico, we expect both to score in a match that should see the Blancos triumph in the end.
