ATP rankings overturn: there’s Alcaraz ahead of Sinner

by Michael

Attp rankings overturn: there’s Alcaraz ahead of Sinner. Here’s what the resounding numbers tell us about this last month of the year 2024

Jannik Sinner will end the year at the top of the ATP rankings. And, for sure, he will be ahead of everyone even after the Australian Open, the first Slam of the new year, given the points lead he has managed to accumulate over rivals.

Twenty-seven weeks ahead of everyone, this is the score of the Italian, who is one of the four active players who has managed to take the top of the world. Along with him, of course, Carlos Alcaraz, but also Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev, Slam champion at the 2021 Us Open. Medvedev was No. 1 Atp for 16 weeks. We will not mention the trophies won by the other two, it would not take a day to read them all especially those of the Serbian. There is, however, one thing to be said: in general, and let’s still take out Nole who has been in another sport, practically, for many years, there is one data point that shows another thing: Sinner is behind Alcaraz.

Ribaltone ATP rankings: Alcaraz ahead

Ventisette weeks are not enough, for the moment, to put himself ahead of the Spaniard who will surely be Sinner’s rival for many and many years.Alcaraz, in fact, during his own career has stood alone at the top of the Atp rankings for 36 weeks. For sure, Jannik, he will come close in these last months and he might even overturn all that, but right now that’s the figure and you have to take that into consideration. It tells us one thing, it tells us that in order to stay at the highest level, and maybe get even better, Sinner has to work on trying to fine-tune all those what he thinks-if any, because we don’t see-weak spots where he might give up something compared to his opponents.

2024 will close in the best way, as mentioned. And 2025 will hopefully give Sinner the best news, the one that everyone is waiting for and which is, of course, related to the Clostebol case that unfortunately still has him as a protagonist. The Tas in Lausanne in the coming months will decide on the merits of Wada’s request. And if everything goes as it should, then we would all be standing here celebrating.
