Sinner, frontal attack: they blackballed him

by Michael

Sinner, it happened again: some mistakes are not forgiven.

Tennis players may be on vacation, but controversies are not. Those on vacation never do, with all that goes on, daily or almost daily, on the sidelines of the world circuit. And Jannik Sinner knows it well, who although far, at this time of year, from the spotlight, has found himself despite himself at the center of a new and unexpected querelle.

A story that has roots far back in time, to tell the truth, but which has only now come to light. It was one of his colleagues, namely Canadian Denis Shapovalov, who in recent days spilled the beans about an episode he felt it was his duty to tell. Tied in double strand, according to him, to a less recent but nonetheless significant affair.

It all began when Shapovalov, in recent days, posted a video on social media for which he came under the crosshairs. Basically, the Canadian tennis player, along with his friends Thanasi Kokkinakis and Domenic Thiem, launched into a kind of “offensive” against the world number 1 and beyond. Along with him, they also dragged Italian fans into the fray, who were guilty, according to them, of being too biased and not knowing how to handle controversy in the right way.

Shapovalov vs. Sinner, every man for himself

At the center of the debate, needless to say, is still the doping affair, Because despite the fact that several months have passed since Sinner tested positive for Clostebol and the Itia acquitted him of all charges, it is still being talked about massively.

“Players are not treated the same way,” the Canadian insinuated in this regard, “they handle it differently anyway. Words that cost Shapovalov dearly, who was immediately attacked by the Bel Paese fans. At that point, he reacted like this, “I feel like on social media I can’t express opinions without people lashing out at me. It seems that people simply hate everything and rail against everyone. This thing happened to me with Italian fans when I made a comment about the Sinner case.”

“I have nothing against Jannik,” the Canadian continued, ”I meant that the judgment should be the same for all players. But a lot of Italian fans like to think of me as crazy.” And who knows how tennisophiles in the Bel Paese will react now…
