Premier League, predictions day 15: matches Sunday 3 p.m.

by Martin

Premier League, since the last break Arsenal has won them all: for Mikel Arteta’s Gunners there is now the tricky derby with Fulham.

Having returned regenerated from the last break for national team commitments, Arsenal has won its last four matches between the Premier League and the Champions League, beating – in order – Nottingham Forest, Sporting CP, West Ham and Manchester United. A streak that has allowed the Gunners to regain confidence in their own means and finally file away the difficulties they had between October and November, a period characterized by an all too discontinuous performance.

In the midweek round, meanwhile, the Londoners gave Ruben Amorim his first disappointment since he has been in charge of the Red Devils: Timber and Saliba scored the goals that knocked out Manchester United, both scored in the second half (2-0). For Arsenal, it was the second clean sheet in the last four games, but it is in the opponent’s half that the Gunners are particularly shining: in the postseason, there are 15 total goals scored by Odegaard and co.

Not losing ground to top-ranked Liverpool – now at +7 – is the goal of Arteta’s team, which cannot leave any more points on the road. However, Arsenal will have to watch out for Fulham’s “cousins” in a derby that the Gunners, despite starting out as clear favorites, have managed to win only once in the last five previous fixtures. The Cottagers, by the way, just got the better of an in-form team like Brighton, folded 3-1 in the week, just days after a draw with Tottenham. We believe Arsenal will eventually come out on top, but it won’t be easy to hold off Fulham’s inspired attack, which only ran out of steam on the first day of the season with Manchester United.

The predictions on the other matches

In addition to Fulham, momentarily sixth, on the left side of the standings we also find Bournemouth, which has regained altitude (it is ninth) thanks to two wins in a row with Wolverhampton and Tottenham.

Last Thursday it was the turn of top-ranked Spurs to reckon with Andoni Iraola’s Cherries, who not even 2 months ago had taken the scalps of two other biggies such as Arsenal and City. The winning goal (1-0) was scored by former Juventus and Roma player Huijsen, bought in the summer by the Bianconeri.

Away from home Bournemouth is going at a different pace (only 8 points against the 22 won at home) but against the newly promoted Ipswich Town they have the opportunity to extend their winning streak: the Tractor Boys, moreover, come from two consecutive defeats (Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace) in which they did not even manage to score. Finally, a really interesting match between Leicester and Brighton: the Seagulls have slowed down in the last 2 days, picking up a point between Southampton and Fulham, and risk something at the King Power Stadium against the Foxes, regenerated by the arrival of their new coach Ruud van Nistelrooy, who debuted with a fine win over West Ham (3-1).
