Wolfsburg v Stuttgart, Bundesliga: odds, predictions

by Sabrina

Wolfsburg-Stuttgart is a match on the eighth day of the Bundesliga and is played on Saturday at 15:30: line-ups, predictions, TV and streaming.

Niko Kovac’s Wolfsburg are struggling to get off the ground. The arrival of former Bayern Munich coach Niko Kovac has not yet had the desired effect: his ‘cure’ is proving to be a flop. In fact, the green-and-whites seem to be struggling with the same problems as last year, when they started out with lofty goals – such as getting through the Champions League group stage – but soon found themselves struggling to avoid relegation.

The spoils of the first seven matches were unsatisfactory: four defeats, two draws and only one win for Wolfsburg, whose only victory came at home to Eintracht Frankfurt. A short-lived joy because in the next round, the last one before the break for national teams, Brekalo and his team-mates lost again, this time surrendering to the surprise Union Berlin, who won 2-0 in the German capital. Kovac’s bench is not shaky, but the current classification forces the club to do some reflecting. A turnaround is needed as soon as possible, given that Wolfsburg are currently second-to-last in the standings: only the tail-end Bochum did worse. The Croatian coach’s men have won five points, the same as Stuttgart, their next opponent at the Volkswagen Arena.

Pellegrino Matarazzo’s team, which together with Bochum is the only one still without a win, also struggled. The Swabians have racked up five draws, including one against Bayern Munich, but the balance cannot be considered positive. A fortnight ago, meanwhile, came the second defeat of the season, a heavy 3-1 home defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt. Not even the American coach can sleep soundly.

The Prediction

The challenge between Wolfsburg and Stuttgart at the moment is nothing more than a salvation clash, if we base ourselves on the current standings. The two teams are not performing well and both will be looking for redemption in a match that promises to be close and balanced. It would not be a surprise if a draw comes out at the Wolkswagen Arena.
