Sinner, it was written in destiny, that’s for sure: it’s clear from this clip.
Are champions born or become? Good question, this one. Very far-fetched, certainly, at least as old as the one, as old as the world, concerning the chicken and the egg. Which of the two was born first is not known, just as, for that matter, it is impossible to determine whether it is true, as they say, that some people have the makings of stars and others lack it.
What is certain is that Jannik Sinner had formidable talent. He had it in his DNA, probably, but it is only thanks to his incredible dedication and self-sacrifice that he was able to cultivate it and turn it into a strength, until he became the colossus he is today and that has no equal, right now, on the face of the earth. Fate probably had in store for him a future in the tennis world, but without his spirit of sacrifice, without his willpower, none of this would have been possible.
Which perhaps answers, at least in part, our question from earlier. And the answer, in our opinion, is that champions are partly born and partly become champions. Always provided, however, that one cultivates in the right way the talent that Mother Nature has bestowed upon us. That we water it, day by day, until we reap its benefits.
Sinner predestined: video proves it
Which is exactly what Sinner, in his own small way, has been doing since he first picked up a tennis racket. From that moment when he decided that he was going to be somebody and that he was going to do just that through tennis.
The fact that he has always had the mentality of a champion is evident not so much from his palmares, which is in any case unequivocal, but rather from a video that, cyclically, comes back bouncing from one channel to another on the various social platforms. It is a clip that both tenderises and makes one smile, but also astonishes at the same time, if only because it perfectly captures her way of being.
The clip in question dates back to 2013, the year when Jannik, beating Gabriele Felline in two sets in the Nike Junior Tour Event, won the Under 13 final. The match was played on the courts of Club Med in Kamarina, in the province of Ragusa, and it was the winner himself, after shaking hands with his opponent and before running off to celebrate, who cleaned up the clay court and smoothed it out after the match. An unmistakable gesture before which we cannot but admit that yes, it is true, it is very true, that Sinner was destined to be number 1 in the world.
