Napoli-Roma, Serie A: tv, streaming, likely formations, prediction

by Martin

Napoli-Roma is a match valid for the thirteenth day of Serie A and is played on Sunday at 6 p.m.: odds, prediction, live TV and streaming.

There could not have been a tougher debut for Claudio Ranieri, who at the ripe old age of 73 has chosen to get back on track to heal “his” Roma. The experienced Roman coach, who after his farewell to Cagliari last summer had hinted that he no longer wanted to coach, will sit on the Giallorossi bench until June and then take on the role of manager.

His adventure – or rather the Ranieri ter – will begin at the “Maradona” stadium against top-ranked Napoli. He takes the place of Ivan Juric, whose Capitoline interlude turned out to be disastrous: the Croatian coach, exonerated after only two months, failed to make his predecessor De Rossi not regret it, and the last two defeats against Verona (3-2) and Bologna (2-3) convinced the club to change for the fourth time in this 2024. Ranieri inherits a Roma team in great difficulty, which after 12 league matches has barely won 13 points – the performance almost of a team fighting not to be relegated – and is 12th in the standings, already -11 from sixth place. Giallorossi, moreover, are awaiting a terrible mini-cycle, since in a few days they will face Napoli, Tottenham and Atalanta between Serie A and the Europa League. The Azzurri came out somewhat downsized from the first real tests of the season, scoring one point in the big matches with Atalanta (0-3) and Inter (1-1). However, Antonio Conte does not despair: Napoli is still first in the standings, one point ahead of a group of four teams (Atalanta, Fiorentina, Inter and Lazio).

Napoli-Roma: the latest news on the lineups

Conte is expected to send the starters onto the field. Lobotka, now fully recovered, will return in place of Gilmour at the helm, while up front Politano, Lukaku (ex of the match) and Kvaratskhelia will play. Some concern for Scotland’s McTominay, who came off injured in the match between his Scotland and Poland, but the former Manchester United man will almost certainly grit his teeth.

On the other side Ranieri will almost certainly file Juric’s three-man defense by fielding Roma in a 4-3-2-1. In attack Dovbyk will be supported by Pellegrini and Dybala, in the back instead neither Hermoso nor Hummels, both of whom are not at their best, should start from the 1′. The midfield will consist of Koné, Cristante and Pisilli.

The Prediction

Will Ranieri’s arrival be enough to shake up a Roma side in black crisis (and which on the road, at least as far as the league is concerned, hasn’t won since April)? The Giallorossi will take the field with a different attitude than in recent outings but Napoli remains favored in a challenge of at least two goals overall.

The probable formations of Napoli-Roma

NAPOLI (4-3-3): Meret; Di Lorenzo, Rrahmani, Buongiorno, Olivera; Zambo Anguissa, Lobotka, McTominay; Politano, Lukaku, Kvaratskhelia.
ROME (4-3-2-1): Svilar; Celik, Mancini, N’Dicka, Angelino; Koné, Cristante, Pisilli; Pellegrini, Dybala; Dovbyk.

POSSIBLE RESULT: 2-1
