Sinner, no remorse: only a select few can see it

by Thorsten

Sinner, there’s no better way to explain it, but it’s only for a select few.

There is no secret behind its success. No mystery, nothing to declare. His is the story of a teenager who invested his every energy and resource into what was his life’s dream: to become a strong tennis player. Little did he know that he would not only become strong, but extremely strong. And that, one day, he would go so high that he would be ranked number one in the world rankings.

Nothing that happened to him, however, was accidental. Jannik Sinner put it all into becoming a champion, but all of it for real. He put aside anything that wasn’t closely tied to tennis because he knew this was the only way he could touch the sky with one finger. His was a gradual, yet at the same time overpowering rise. Insiders had already noticed his greatness even before he became a top player, even.

When, then, he finally and finally exploded, there was none left for anyone. Not for the big boys who once seemed to be light years away from him, nor for everyone else. A champion with an overt hunger and talent, then, who made himself and who did not let go even at the moment when even he could have said he had arrived. And in the end, if you will, that is precisely his greatness.

Vagnozzi tells of Sinner’s exceptionalism

Great, immense, mind-blowing. Of adjectives useful to describe him we could find plenty, but who, better than his coach, Simone Vagnozzi, can speak about the champion who is making the Azzurri fans live the most beautiful of sports dreams

The coach spoke thus about his protégé when asked on Sky Sports after his victory at the Nitto Atp Finals 2024 what the exceptionalism of the San Candido phenomenon consisted of. “Sinner’s exceptionalism,” he said, ”is what you don’t see, which is what’s outside the tournament: how he goes on the court to improve himself every day that we do warm-ups, how he’s paying attention maybe to what the new trainer and the new physical therapist are telling him now.

“He has this drive inside to get as high as possible,” he added further, ”and he doesn’t want to have any regrets, so he’s never satisfied: he’s always on the ball, so I think that’s kind of his exceptionality. It’s not easy to find guys so dedicated to the sport.” Not easy no. And that’s why it’s beautiful a lot.
