Sinner-Medvedev, Atp Finals: schedule, live free-to-air TV, streaming, prediction

Sinner-Medvedev is a match valid for the group stage of the 2024 Atp Finals: schedule, statistics, news, predictions, live TV and streaming.

The semifinals are just a step away, but to be sure of topping the group as first Jannik Sinner is called upon to make one last effort: to beat Daniil Medvedev. In fact, thanks to two unblemished victories against Australia’s de Minaur (6-3 6-4) and the U.S.’s Fritz (double 6-4), the world number one could peel off a pass to the next round even if he loses in his match with the Russian.

All it would take for the Italian to party would basically be to win a set against Medvedev. A possible (and likely) success of Fritz in the match with de Minaur, on court in the early afternoon, would also become irrelevant in that case. The semifinal would be in the bag even with a 2-set loss, but at that point a win by the Australian against Fritz would be necessary. In short, the irreparable would have to happen for Sinner to have to leave the Turin Atp Finals, his big goal in this season finale. So far, we said, the San Candido native has left no one a chance, although in his match with Fritz two days ago he had to deal with a service that had become too erratic again.

Sinner one step away from the semifinals

And Medvedev? The Russian, after a nightmarish opener with Fritz – a clear loss in two sets, complete with the Moscow man’s theatrics – made up for it immediately by overwhelming de Minaur in just over an hour of play (6-2 6-4).

To avert elimination, the world No. 4 now absolutely must win against Sinner, although a success might prove futile since, with the score tied, Fritz would prevail thanks to victory in the head-to-head match. Medvedev have already faced each other 15 times, with the Italian overtaking him in the previous (8-7) last October in the Six Kings Slam exhibition tournament. In the last nine challenges between the two, the Russian has prevailed only at Wimbledon, taking advantage of an off day by the Italian.

Although qualification is close, we don’t expect Sinner to let his guard down. The Italian will come out on top again this time against Medvedev in a match of at least 20 games overall.
