Barcelona-Bayern Munich, Champions League: free-to-air TV, lineups, prediction

by Mark

Barcelona-Bayern Munich is a match valid for the third day of the Champions League and is played on Wednesday at 9 p.m.: live TV, probable formations, prediction.

It is the most anticipated match of the third day. Yes, because in the past, with the old formula, it was rare to see a clash between Barcelona and Bayern Munich already in the group stage. From this edition, however, the so-called big matches are no longer “impossible,” as each team must face at least two opponents from the same bracket.

Needless to say, the match in Montjuic offers a lot of cues: just think of Lewandowski and Flick, two former Bayern players ready to challenge their past, but also of the Catalans’ desire for revenge, lately always beaten – and even soundly – by the Bavarians, who in 2020 smashed 8 goals against the Blaugrana, inflicting one of the worst defeats ever. Barcelona currently leads La Liga with a three-point lead over Real Madrid, but in the Champions League it has had only one win in two matches: in the opener it was surprised by Monaco in the Principality (2-1), then made up for it by thrashing (5-0) the Swiss Young Boys. Similar situation for Bayern Munich: Vincent Kompany’s men debuted with a terrifying 9-2 win against Dinamo Zagreb, but two weeks later they were mocked by Aston Villa in Birmingham (1-0), chastened by a Duran goal. Like Barça, the Bavarians are also first in the Bundesliga standings (co-habiting with Leipzig) and are fresh off a roundabout success against Stuttgart (4-0). Over the weekend, however, Barcelona also “went over the top” as they stunned the hapless Sevilla (5-1).

Flick has recovered Dani Olmo, who should start from 1′, but Gavi and Fermin are also available. Musiala, on the other hand, cannot make it: the Bayern Munich gem is still not 100% and will be preserved.

The Prediction

Potentially spectacular match between two healthy teams who, if on a good day, score in spurts. At least three goals total at Montjuic. Barcelona, after six straight losses to the Bavarians, should be able to avoid defeat.
