Liverpool-Bologna is a match on the second day of the Champions League and is played Wednesday at 9 p.m.: live TV, likely lineups, prediction.
Playing in a facility that oozes football history like Anfield on a Champions League night is part of those “rewards” reserved for Bologna after last season’s great feat. For the red and blue, after the home debut with Shakhtar Donetsk (0-0), this is the first away trip full of charm but it will be very complicated to avoid defeat against a Liverpool that has so far conceded very little, showing that it can rival the European bigs even after the farewell of the “totem” Jurgen Klopp.
Since Arne Slot, the Dutch coach who arrived in the summer from Feyenoord, has been on the bench, the Reds have had almost only victories: the Reds’ only stumble was the rather surprising one with Nottingham Forest, who ran at Anfield after the break for national team commitments.
Fascinating but prohibitive trip for the Reds
But it was but a mishap: Salah and his teammates haven’t stopped since, making their Champions League debut with a very clear 3-1 win at the San Siro against AC Milan, who appeared too small in front of a Liverpool side that did the business.
Since then Slot’s team has trimmed three goals against Bournemouth, five against West Ham in the League Cup, and last Sunday bent Wolverhampton 2-1 at Molineux, climbing to the top of the Premier League standings. Bologna, on the other hand, cannot get off the ground, as they recorded yet another draw for the season (their fifth, to be exact) on Saturday against Atalanta (1-1). Vincenzo Italiano’s men, who lost their best elements (Zirkzee and Calafiori) in the summer, have so far beaten only Monza in the league. In the cup they wasted a lot against Shakhtar Donetsk but they also have to thank goalkeeper Skorupski, who was able to neutralize the penalty shot – and missed – by Sudakov. The former Fiorentina coach is crossing his fingers hoping to recover Argentine Castro, the Felsini’s extra man so far: the striker has trained with his teammates and should be there. In Liverpool, however, Alisson and Robertson are in doubt.

The Prediction
It is difficult, not to say impossible, to assume a positive result for Bologna at Anfield against these Reds. The Rossoblù will yes have the advantage of being able to play without any pressure but the gap against Liverpool, almost perfect since the season began, is too wide. We imagine a wide victory by Klopp’s team in a match of at least three goals total.
