Everyone is there except Sinner: they excluded him from the party

by Martin

Jannik Sinner did not deserve such treatment: excluded outright, no one invited him to the big party.

There are 50 in total and they all come from the world of sports. In some cases they belong to diametrically opposite worlds, but they have in common that they are icons and exert a great influence on the people who follow their exploits.

There is one detail of the ranking published by the U.S. magazine Sports Illustrated that, however, made Italians and others turn their noses up at it. In listing the most influential sports figures nowadays, the magazine, in fact, forgot to include a name of some importance. Someone who is certainly influential and who, moreover, is influential in an extremely positive way. It is no coincidence that he is thought of as an excellent example for children and young people, many of whom admit, for some time now, that they are inspired by him.

Nevertheless, there is no room for Jannik Sinner in this top 50. Although he is No. 1 in the world, despite having an insane following, Sports Illustrated did not feel it necessary to include him in the ranking that it has been publishing in recent hours. Which, we said, seemed quite strange in the eyes of not only his fans, but tennis fans in general.

Sinner, what a snub: they “forgot him ”

There is only one tennis player, actually, in this list. It is Carlos Alcaraz, number 3 in the Atp ranking and winner, in 2024, of both Wimbledon and Roland Garros. There is no one else, besides him, representing the tennis world.

The Iberian is spoken of as the phenomenon who is in the footsteps of the legendary Big Three, namely Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, having won, just like them, the French and British Slams in quick succession. One praises, then, the way he manages to stay focused, to “ maintain a mocking smile, as if he were playing with his friends in the park.” “It’s no wonder,” the Star magazine reads further, ”then, that the big brands want to do business with him.

“Carlos is king. And he will probably remain so for a long, long time.” It is with this sentence that the profile of Carlitos, who is in good company in the rankings, closes. With him are legends of the caliber of LeBron James, Leo Messi, and Max Verstappen, and it is right, for goodness sake, that he is there among them. It is a little less so, however, that Sinner was not invited to a party that, that much is certain, he deserved to attend as much as Alcaraz.
