Serie B match predictions for Tuesday, Aug. 27

by Michael

Serie B, it’s right back on the field in the Serie Cadetta with the first midweek round of the season: many teams hunting for redemption.

There’s no stopping the B. Not even time to relax after a crackling second day, in which there was no shortage of surprises, that it is immediately back on the field for the midweek round. The one who got off to a very bad start is Moreno Longo’s Bari, which so far has collected only defeats. The Galletti, coming off a disastrous season – they avoided relegation only after the playout with Ternana – are unable to get going and on Friday cashed in another knockout in Modena (1-2).

It will need the boost of the “San Nicola” to break the negative streak in the match with Sassuolo. The neroverdi took the first three points in the Emilia-Romagna derby with Cesena, forgetting the half-hearted misstep with Catanzaro seven days earlier. Right now Sassuolo has much more certainty than the Apulians, but watch out for the desire for redemption of Longo’s men, who already have their backs to the wall: both should score on at least one occasion. There will be no shortage of goals in Cittadella-Pisa and Cremonese-Palermo either: the Veneti in the last weekend took a surprise win over Brescia (0-1), while the team led by Pippo Inzaghi took the scalp of Alessio Dionisi’s Rosanero (2-0); the other big disappointment of these first two days is precisely Palermo, still with zero points, but against a not very brilliant Cremonese the Sicilians should be able to at least avoid defeat in a match with at least one goal on each side.

The predictions on the other matches

Vincenzo Vivarini’s Frosinone is also called upon to get unstuck: the Ciociari, who had made their debut with a heavy 3-0 loss to Pisa in the Coppa Italia, picked up a point between Sampdoria (2-2) and Spezia (2-1).

The air at the “Stirpe” should be good for the Giallazzurri: Marchizza and his teammates are slight favorites with Modena but it is unlikely that they will be able to keep their goal unbeaten after conceding 4 goals in two games. The surging Sudtirol, on full points and momentarily first alone, has a good chance of taking points away from the trip to Carrara: the newly promoted hosts have shown worrying limitations and it will not be easy to keep a confident team at bay. Match from at least three goals overall is the one between Salernitana and Sampdoria at the Arechi, both coming from defeats, while the challenge between Reggiana and Brescia should not reserve too many emotions: the Lombardi for now have the worst xG figures away from the “Rigamonti”.
