Jannik Sinner, the situation is going from bad to worse: after the doping allegations, this is all we need.
He will not take the court until 7 p.m. today, Jannik Sinner, yet he has already had to endure unimaginable pressure since arriving in the Big Apple. What happened on the eve of the Slam is what we are all, by now, aware of, which is why it can hardly be said that he came to the New York appointment in the right spirit.
The South Tyrolean is fighting a battle of which we cannot really be aware. On the one hand, the joy of being number 1 in the world, on the other hand, the criticism he has received from those who believe, in light of the doping scandal that has erupted in recent days, that he doesn’t deserve to be there. All kinds of things are being said about him and one forgets, sometimes, that there is a ruling that speaks for itself. A ruling that acquitted Jannik of all charges and ruled that the Clostebol intake was accidental and not voluntary.
Nevertheless, Sinner continues to “pay” the price for what happened between the Indian Wells and Miami Masters 1000. Some defend him, others point the finger at him claiming that he deserved disqualification. Not to mention that there are even those who “punish” him, for something that according to the ruling he did not do anyway, by ousting him and pretending that he is not, tennis-wise, the phenomenon of the moment.
The post without Sinner ends up in the crosshairs
Not one bit liked, in this regard, the line that British broadcaster Sky Sports decided to take in reference to the Sinner affair. On Monday morning, just hours before the actual start of the Us Open, the pay TV station published a post that, in no time, fueled controversy galore.
Not unnoticed, in fact, was Sinner’s absence in the graphic posted to celebrate the fact that the 2024 edition of the star-studded Slam was about to go live. There are Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, Sascha Zverev, but also Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff, and Iga Swiatek. Only, precisely, the world number 1 is missing, which immediately seemed strange and seems to conceal a clear stance on the part of the British broadcaster.
They have deleted the post, the powerhouse that we are ahahaha pic.twitter.com/tEg4TsPoz4

The post, we said, generated an inevitable wave of discontent. The tennis people rejected it without ifs and buts, and negative comments proliferated within minutes. Until, wisely, the graphic was removed from the Sky Sports Tennis page on X. It was not enough, however, to quell tempers. In several comments that appeared on the platform, subscribers threatened to cancel their plans because they were outraged that the British broadcaster sided against Sinner, ruthlessly ignoring him.
