The Dybala deal is now off, but the Arabs of Al-Qadsiah have not given up: they already have new sights.
To say that the fans have gone mad would not render well the idea of what their reaction was to a resounding decision that was completely unexpected. Paulo Dybala turned down the Arab offer, although the day before he had said he was ready to embark on a new adventure. He did so just as his move to Al-Qadsiah was being finalized, thus upsetting his plans and those of the team that was about to welcome him.
His heart has chosen Roma and on Sunday, therefore, he will be on the field wearing the Giallorossi jersey, to the delight of his teammates and the fans. A sign that “love” and a sense of belonging cannot be bought and that not even the 75 million over 3 years that the Arabs had put on the plate was enough to drive the Joya away from a city that evidently matters to him much more than any economic proposal.
At first he had accepted the offer, but Al-Qadsiah’s downward play against Roma pushed the white smoke away. The Capitoline club was expecting 18 million euros, but the Saudis raised it by proposing 3 million plus bonuses. Much less than previously thought, then, which is why the first two meetings had ended in a deadlock. Then, what we all know happened.
After Dybala comes up Chukwueze
While Dybala was in Trigoria to say goodbye to his teammates and the technical staff, and the fans were trying to come to terms with his farewell, in his heart matured the decision that took everyone by surprise.
Little does it matter that he is in danger of no longer playing a decisive role in the Giallorossi team, because the heart wants what the heart wants. And he will have to accept his decision, now, even Al-Qadsiah, which seems to have wasted no time. In the sights of the Arabs, having taken note of Dybala’s choice, there would already be, in fact, another player from Serie A. It is the Nigerian Samuel Chukwueze of Milan, but even in this case the Saudis will have to reckon with several variables that could hinder a possible negotiation.
Although on the first day of the championship he did not shine, the Rossoneri club would be reluctant to give up the Umuhaia striker. He has thrown away, with a sensational splat, the golden opportunity he had in front of the 70,000 spectators at the San Siro, but it is not certain that the situation could not improve.
