Djokovic fury, total blizzard: “It’s embarrassing”

by Martin

Furia Djokovic, even the Serbian tennis player couldn’t keep himself away from controversy. Here’s his resounding attack: “Embarrassing.”

What happened at the Cincinnati Masters 1000 quickly made the rounds around the world. And it’s hard to understand how an umpire there on the doorstep couldn’t see what actually happened. Something that has never been seen before, and especially in this day and age, where there is technology coming to the aid of the referees, mistakes like that are really not acceptable.

It quickly became clear that Jack Draper on the match point that allowed him to overcome Felix Auger-Aliassime and thus fly to the quarterfinals, touched the ball twice. A call that resoundingly opened the debate precisely on the issue of technology. But not only that: there have been many tennis players who over the course of these hours have decided to have their say. And among them, as we read serenely in the title of this article, there is also Djokovic. Who certainly did not send them his way with a post that appeared on his own social profiles.

Furia Djokovic, here are his words

“It’s embarrassing that we don’t have video replay in these kinds of situations on the court. Even more ridiculous is the fact that we don’t have a rule in place that would allow chair umpires to change the original call based on the video review that happens off the court! Everyone who watches TV sees what happens via replay, yet the players on the field are kept ‘in the dark not knowing what the outcome will be. We have Hawkeye, we live in a technologically advanced 21st century! Please make sure this nonsense never happens again. “

In short, a really tough Djokovic on the issue and also rightly so for one simple reason: that mistake decided the match and we saw how in any match it can definitely change everything for a ball. And at such a high level it’s unthinkable that this could really happen.
