Genoa-Inter is a match valid for the first day of Serie A and is played on Saturday at 6:30pm: odds, predictions, live TV, streaming.
Italian champion Inter will begin the defense of the Scudetto in a traditionally hostile stadium like Marassi, one of the few that in the last championship – dominated from the first to the last day – the Nerazzurri failed to conquer. On the day when the 2024-25 edition of Serie A opens its doors, Simone Inzaghi’s team will therefore go in search of its first three points, with the aim of chasing away the doubts left by a preseason characterized by several shadows.
After victories with Lugano, Pergolettese and Las Palmas, Inter did not go beyond a draw with Pisa lost to the Saudis of Al-Ittihad and split the stakes with Chelsea. What worries the Piacenza coach most, however, is the fact that the goal has remained inviolate on only one occasion. The squad is virtually the same as last year, with the important additions of Zielinski and Taremi, both of whom arrived on a zero-parameter basis. There is some concern, however, in Genoa’s house: the Rossoblù have already lost one of the main protagonists of last season, the Italo-Argentine Retegui – who moved to Atalanta after the injury suffered by Scamacca – and the Icelandic Gudmundsson also has his bags packed (he will not be sold until the club finds a replacement, which should be Pinamonti). The risk is to dismantle a toy painstakingly assembled by Alberto Gilardino over the past two seasons and which brought as a dowry the excellent 11th place finish in Serie A 2023-24. Genoa, in any case, managed to get through the first round in the Coppa Italia without any problems, beating Reggiana by a narrow margin with a goal by former Milan player Messias.
Genoa-Inter: the latest lineup news
Gudmundsson is on the starting foot and Gilardino is forced to field an unseen attack again. Next to Messias will play Vitinha, with Ekuban still struggling with an injury. Problems also in defense, where the red and blue coach trusts in the recovery of Vasquez: Vogliacco and Bani will also be with him.
Inzaghi comes to Marassi without Zielinski and Arnautovic, who are injured, but defender de Vrij will also be missing. Lautaro Martinez returned late from vacation but should grit his teeth and start from the 1′ alongside Thuram: if he doesn’t make it, Taremi, who did very well in preseason friendlies, is ready.
UPDATE: Gudmundsson has just undergone medical examinations with Fiorentina. His replacement will be former Sassuolo striker Pinamonti.

The Prediction
Genoa is an open building site and saw last year’s attack revolutionized, but Marassi remains a difficult pitch for an Inter side that has drawn its last two games here (0-0 and 1-1). The Nerazzurri should in any case get their hands on the first win of their season in a match in which the red and blue are also likely to score on at least one occasion.
The probable lineups of Genoa-Inter
GENOA (3-5-2): Gollini; Vogliacco, Bani, Vazquez; Zanoli, Frendrup, Badelj, Malinovskyi, Martin; Messias, Vitinha.
INTER (3-5-2): Sommer; Pavard, Acerbi, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Lautaro Martinez, Thuram.
POSSIBLE RESULT: 1-2
