Conference League, the first leg of the second qualifying round is spread over three days: also set to debut are AEK Athens Greeks.
The qualifying rounds for the upcoming Conference League, spread over three days, are also proceeding apace. In the second one, the two paths return: on one side the placed teams (86 teams), on the other side the national champions (12 teams). Of course, those teams that have just “relegated” from the Champions League after coming off worst in the first qualifying round are also part of these two groups.
The North-Macedonians of Striga Trim & Lum, for example, who performed well in the eventful double-header with the Slovaks of Slovan Bratislava: overturning the odds was objectively complicated, but the Balkans in the first leg match forced Vladimir Weiss’s men into a difficult comeback (the two goals in the final by former Parma and Milan midfielder Kucka were decisive). Struga also scored in the return leg (1-2), showing that they have quite a few offensive solutions at their disposal. In their Conference League debut, they will face the Armenians of Pyunik, who were also eliminated from the Champions League: the Caucasians, on the other hand, have strongly disappointed in the ball possession phase, running out of steam in the two matches with Dinamo Minsk (0-0 and 0-1). A balanced double challenge against Struga looms, and it cannot be ruled out that the first leg could end in a draw.
Also promising great balance is the match between Latvians Riga and Poles Slask Wroclaw: it will not be easy for the guests to make a full haul in Latvia against a team whose championship is in full swing and who, above all, has not lost since April. Georgians Dinamo Batumi, on the other hand, should quickly forget about their Champions League elimination with Ludogorets by centering a rounded success against Montenegrins Decic. AEK Athens will most likely win by a goleada over the Andorrans of Inter d’Escaldes while the Latvians of Auda should emerge unscathed from their trip to Northern Ireland.
