Betting, Trump is risen: odds gone wild, bookmakers run for cover

Betting, Trump is resurrected: the U.S. election has come into full swing and will hog the spotlight between now and November. What the bookies are saying.

November is not that far away. It’s going to be a fiery four months next for the United States of America as it prepares for the highly anticipated presidential election. An appointment perhaps never so “crucial” for the fate of the entire world, whose balances seem to become more precarious with each passing year.

Former President Donald Trump is aiming to return to the White House after the 2016-2020 four-year term. The Republican Party candidate, according to bookmakers’ odds, is the big favorite in the next round of elections. His main opponent, current President Joe Biden, is close behind. The leader of the Democrats is 81 years old, very elderly and does not seem to give guarantees physically and especially cognitively. Biden’s gaffes and lapses are now the order of the day, and much of the public does not think he is up to the task of continuing to lead a world power like the United States, which faces crucial challenges in the coming years. The occupant of the White House, despite intense pressure, has always said he will not quit, even though the possibility of a running change – the names being floated are those of his deputy Kamala Harris and former first lady Michelle Obama – is growing stronger day by day.

Betting, Trump is resurrected: the assassination attempt brought down the odds

The odds on a Trump victory had already collapsed after the first confrontation between the two, staged last June 27. Biden’s disastrous performance had been a mouthwatering assist for the Republican candidate, to the point that a success for him in November was quoted at 1.50 (74 percent chance of winning).

However, the now infamous attack on Trump on Sunday in Butler, Pennsylvania, sent the odds plummeting even further. The former president nearly lost his life during a rally: 20-year-old sniper Thomas Matthew Crooks – later shot by Secret Service agents – only wounded him in the ear (while killing one person in the audience). “The Donald’s” victory is now listed at 1.35, while Biden has inevitably risen to 5.50. Between now and November, in any case, new twists and turns cannot be ruled out, especially if Biden decides to take a step back. Trump will probably remain favored even if a new contender comes in, but the odds at that point could change again.
