Tottenham-Luton Town is a match valid for the 30th day of the Premier League and is played on Saturday at 4 p.m.: live TV, probable formations, predictions.
It is not yet known whether the Premier League in the next Champions League will be represented by four or five teams: everything will depend on England’s position in the Uefa ranking at the end of the season. While waiting to know the “verdict,” Tottenham, momentarily fifth in the standings, certainly cannot rest on its laurels. Not least because fourth place is still within reach, if we consider that Aston Villa has three points and even one more match, Spurs having to recover the one with Chelsea.
Ange Postecoglou’s men, however, before the two-week break for national representative commitments had squandered a huge opportunity, getting swept away in the London derby with the not irresistible Fulham (3-0). A pity, because in case of success at Craven Cottage they would have hooked the Villans, simultaneously stopped by West Ham. Spurs with the Australian coach at the helm have made giant strides compared to last season – finished out of everything – but continuity of performance is not their forte and slips like the one with the Cottagers so far there have been often.
Luton out of the red zone
Postecoglou will want to see a different attitude in the match with Luton Town, a team that is qualitatively modest but intent on fighting tooth and nail not to go back to the cadet league after just one year.
The Hatters meanwhile benefited from the penalty the league imposed on a direct competitor, Nottingham Forest, a -4 that allowed them to get out of the relegation zone again. Rob Edwards and his men on the last day of the league had drawn 1-1 with Forest themselves, but victory has been missing since late January (from December to date they have only gotten the better of Brighton).
The Prediction
The biggest unknowns are always related to the condition of Tottenham’s national team, which has been out and about in Europe and the world for the past two weeks. Luton is a tough team that likes to play openly even against the big boys, but Spurs are unlikely to slip up in this one as well: expect at least three goals overall.
