Austria-Turkey is a friendly and is played Tuesday at 8:45 p.m.: news, stats, likely lineups, predictions, live TV and streaming.

With the success snatched last Saturday in Slovakia (0-2), Ralf Rangnick’s Austria recorded its fourth consecutive victory after wins over Azerbaijan and Estonia (European qualifiers) and Germany (friendly). Four wins but also four clean sheets in a row, demonstrating improvements in both phases of the game. In short, the former Leipzig and Manchester United coach can be satisfied.

In Slovakia it was Weimann and Baumgartner who decided the match, two who will almost certainly be on the call-up list for the upcoming German European Championship. Austria secured a pass for the continental event – their second consecutive participation after Euro 2020, in which Das Team’s run stopped in the round of 16 against Italy – thanks to second place in Group F behind Belgium. A feat will be needed, however, to make it to the knockout stage as they did three years ago, since the red-and-whites happened to be in a group where scoring points will be complicated, given the presence of France and the Netherlands. Austria, however, has the right credentials to become one of the surprises of the continental event, especially if Sabitzer and his teammates take the field with the same determination as in recent matches.

In Germany, Turkey also wants to carve out a starring role for itself, a selection that has picked up steam since Vincenzo Montella sits on the bench.

The former Fiorentina and AC Milan coach was one of the main architects of qualification for the European Championship, won thanks to first place in Group G, ahead of the much better-ranked Croatia. To do well in June, however, it will be necessary to regain the spirit of last fall, of which there was no trace in the last friendly against Hungary, lost 1-0 in Budapest last Friday.

The prediction

Two selections that are healthy overall and both want to do well at the upcoming European Championships. It will be a balanced friendly between two teams that are more or less equal in terms of values on the field. The total number of goals will be less than four. Austria should be able to avoid defeat.

Austria-Turkey’s likely lineups
