Juventus-Genoa, Serie A: streaming, odds, predictions

by Thorsten

Juventus-Genoa is a match of the twenty-ninth day of Serie A and is played Sunday at 12:30 p.m.: odds, predictions, live TV and streaming.

Qualification for the next Club World Cup, which became official after Napoli’s wreck in the Champions League against Barcelona, was perhaps the only good news in the last month and a half for a Juventus side that continues to struggle on the pitch.

The Bianconeri a week ago missed the appointment with the three points also against Atalanta: the defense rediscovered itself again as fragile – the last clean sheet dates back to last January – and the Dea, after being overturned by Cambiaso and Milik’s goals found the goal of the final 2-2 with the Dutch Koopmeiners, for some time now the object of desire of the Bianconeri club. Continued slowdowns, meanwhile, allowed Milan to overtake them in the standings: the Lady is now third and should start looking over her shoulder, although Champions League qualification does not seem to be in question. Who is, however, is Massimiliano Allegri, whose future in Turin is hanging by a thread. Before the delicate double-header against Lazio, between the league and the Coppa Italia semifinal first leg, the Bianconeri will face Genoa, one of the few teams to stop Danilo and his teammates in the amazing first half of the season.

The Rossoblù, led by Alberto Gilardino, have salvation in their pockets but want to quickly reach the fateful quota of tranquility, the 40 points, thus giving themselves an untroubled end to the season. The Ligurians, however, have had the better of only Udinese since February and have lost both of their last two matches against Inter and Monza. The one with the Brianzoli (2-3) was painful, with Maldini’s goal ten minutes from the end thwarting a double comeback by Gilardino’s men scored by Gudmundsson-Vitinha.

Juventus-Genoa: latest lineup news

After missing the last few games, Rabiot, whose absence was keenly felt between Napoli and Atalanta, is ready to return. The Frenchman should settle alongside Locatelli in midfield, while McKennie will be on the other side. On the right flank Allegri will prefer Iling Junior to Kostic, while in attack Vlahovic, who served his disqualification against Dea, will be back at work: he will recompose the pair with Chiesa.

Gilardino will confirm 3-5-2: Spence and Messias on the flanks and Badelj in the middle between Malinovskyi and Frendrup. Only bench for Dutchman Strootman, at a disadvantage in the duel with the Ukrainian. Disqualified Sabelli but Vasquez returns in defense.

The prediction

Juventus is unbeaten for nineteen consecutive home matches with Genoa but it is also true that Ligurians have not lost in the last two previous matches, including the first leg match. This time, confidence can be given to Allegri’s team, eager to get back to winning ways. Genoa away from the Marassi is less insidious and the fact that they have now achieved salvation does not help on a motivational level. However, it is very likely that Gilardino’s men will score at least one goal at the Stadium, taking advantage of the defensive uncertainties of the Bianconeri.

The probable lineups of Juventus-Genoa

JUVENTUS (3-5-2): Szczesny; Gatti, Bremer, Danilo; Cambiaso, McKennie, Locatelli, Rabiot, Iling Jr.; Chiesa, Vlahovic.
GENOA (3-5-1-1): Martinez; De Winter, Bani, Vasquez; Spence, Malinovskyi, Badelj, Frendrup, Messias; Gudmundsson; Retegui.

POSSIBLE RESULT: 2-1
