Berrettini is returning to the small screen: here’s in what capacity and when he will land on the popular Amazon-branded streaming platform.
The idea was not, at least in the beginning, to “feed” him to the public. It was only meant to be a treasure chest of memories, the last of a career studded with so many successes that we would struggle, even if we wanted to, to list them all one by one. But then, in the process, we realized that it would be a real shame to keep that jewel to ourselves.
And so, Roger Federer’s project has slowly evolved into something his supporters can’t wait to see for themselves. In recent hours, it was announced that a documentary about the champion from Basel will soon debut exclusively on Prime Video. Not about his life, which would require a feature-length no-limits film if one really wanted to tell the whole story in full. Rather, it will focus on the last 12 days of the career of the undisputed king of world tennis, who said goodbye to the fans and his sport of the heart on Sept. 24, 2022.
He did so, as will be remembered, in London, on the occasion of “his” Laver Cup. The idea, we said, was for a private documentary to be shown to his family and friends, but the work turned out so well that it was felt, in the process, that it was fitting to share it with those who have loved and supported Roger throughout his brilliant career.

Hence, the decision to stream it on Prime Video and to air the documentary, directed by Oscar-winning director Asif Kapadia and co-director Joe Sabia, in 240 countries.

Anyway, I did not see any problem in shooting this documentary because it was not meant for the public. However, we captured so many intense moments, and it turned into a deep personal journey. All of this ensures that the story of my final days in the world of tennis will resonate with both fans of the sport and a wider audience around the world.”
Appearing in the documentary, as easily guessed, will be all the opponents who played a decisive role in King Roger’s life: Rafa, first of all, but also Nole and Murray. And there will also be Matteo Berrettini, who was on Federer’s team in that edition of the Laver Cup that decreed the end of an era and who experienced firsthand, therefore, the emotions of that day that acted as a watershed between the past and the future of tennis. Get your Kleenex ready, then: there will be tears.
