Atalanta-Sassuooo: video highlights and highlights from Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024 Serie A evening match, with moviola episodes and report cards.
Atalanta hosts Sassuolo for the 25th day of Serie A. The Bergamaschi, after a very encouraging series of wins, aim to move up to fourth place, overtaking Bologna and moving closer to AC Milan. For Sassuolo, it is important to collect points to move as far away from the relegation zone as possible.
Gasperini twists the cards a bit, leaving De Roon on the bench and launching Pasalic from 1′ alongside Ederson. On the sides, Holm and Zappacosta are confirmed. Scamacca also remains on the bench: the Bergamasque coach relies on Miranchuk, with Koopmeiners and De Ketelaere a bit wider and backward to support him.
Dionisi’s team arrives at Gewiss Stadium after the draw against Torino, confirming former Inter Milan man Pinamonti in attack. The Italian striker plays supported by Thorstvedt and Lurienté. In the four-man defense Ruan and Viti are joined by Pedersen and Doig.
Highlights of the challenge
The hosts suffer from the guests’ play: after the opening whistle Laurienté immediately finds Thorstvedt who tries a first-time conclusion: the ball hits the outside of the net. After the quarter of an hour of play, the Nerazzurri imposed their pace and play. On 20′, Zappacosta comes forward with a volley from the edge: Consigli rebounds. Two minutes later came Dea’s goal with Pasalic: Holm serves Miranchuk, but the Russian’s shot is blocked by Consigli, on the loose ball comes Pasalic who scores…
Sassuolo tried to respond first with Bajrami and then with Laurienté, again from distance, but without too much accuracy. At 31′ the neroverdi come very close to the equalizer, with a strong shot by Henrique rejected by Carnesecchi on the crossbar. Around 45′ Holm engages Consigli, then Salvini touches his hand in the area. From the penalty spot Pinamonti comes up and gets hypnotized by the Dea goalkeeper.
The first chance in the second half comes from Zappacosta, who finishes well on an assist from De Ketelaere: Consigli parries and puts the ball in the corner. At 57′, Pasalic goes close to doubling the score, but the ball ends up too high. Soon after, Koopmeiners beats Consigli on an assist from Holm.
At 68′, Consigli overcomes on Miranchuk. Bakker comes in and scores 3-0 (first-time shot from the edge with deflection). Then in 79′ the young Dutchman also goes close to a double. In the 80′ Mulattieri tries a header and Carnesecchi blocks. In the final, the guests’ goalkeeper denies the joy of goal to Scamacca.

REFEREE: Alessandro Prontera of the Bologna section
MARKERS: 22′, Pasalic; 58′, Koopmeiners; 75′, Bakker;
NOTE: Admonished: . Recovery: 3′
The best player on the field is Carnesecchi who saves the result several times: he even saves Pinamonti’s penalty twice: the penalty was repeated for Kolasinac’s (8) entry into the box. The other big star is Holm, who dominates the flank and creates constant anxieties for Sassuolo defenders (7.5). Pasalic is flawless in midfield and ruthless in insertions (7.5). The worst of the match is Pinamonti, for his missed penalty (badly shot) and little useful work for the team in the last meters (5). Lipani among the neroverdi was also bad (5.5). For Sassuolo, the best player on the field is Consigli (6.5). Koopmeiners continues to impress: he scored for the fifth consecutive appearance between CoppaItalia and Serie A and is now Atalanta’s top scorer in the league along with Lookman (7)
Moviola and highlights of the match
The referee, supported by VAR, does well to award the penalty to Sassuolo for Scalvini’s wide arm. He is also right to have the penalty overturned because Kolasinac had entered the box at the time of the shot. If the Atalanta defender had only protected the ball as it placidly headed out instead of unnecessarily touching it to sweep, the penalty would not have been repeated.
