Copenhagen-Manchester City: tonight the Champions League returns with the defending champion team engaged on an easy field
Certainly for Guardiola’s Manchester City, the defending champions, it could have been decidedly worse. But the urn has been benevolent, giving the English a very easy task on paper.
Against Copenhagen, in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16, the English should be able to wrap things up by posting what looks like an easy away win. And that is why we are going to take a look together at what are our predictions for goalscorers, marksmen and cautions.
Copenaghen-Manchester City, the possible scorer
He has recovered in recent weeks Pep Guardiola, and tonight, of course, he will send him out from the first minute. Certainly Haaland is the number one suspect to be able to crack the Copenhagen defense, in a match that will almost certainly unravel in the first half. Also watch out for the one-two possibility of the center forward, who finished with more than 50 goals on the season last year.
The likely cautions and shooters
There are two hot names for City: the first is Foden who, we are sure, in the course of the match should find the goal on at least two occasions. Another is Bernardo Silva, who in the last period has often found the right position to try from the edge. Besides, he has technical qualities that we certainly do not discover. At least one shot on goal should hurl him. At home Copenhagen, on the other hand, watch out for Elyounoussi, who could try from distance.
One aspect not to be overlooked concerns corner kicks and set pieces. City in constant offensive projection could shoot several of them and the Danes apart from McKenna do not have great headers. Especially to watch out for on these occasions are Rodri – skilled however also in shooting from distance – and Aké.
Question of cautions: fullback Jelert grappling with one between Foden, Doku and Grealish the yellow could easily get him during the 90minutes (one yellow and one red in the group stage). Same for Diogo Gonçalves, who has totaled four cards in the last nine official matches. At home to City, watch out for Stones. One who also releases a lot in the setting phase and therefore could pay the price when he is forced to return.
