Continuity is not among the hallmarks of Ivan Juric’s Torino, unable to capitalize on the wake of the fine win against Atalanta two weeks ago. In Frosinone on Sunday, the granata had to settle for a draw (0-0), remaining confined to the right side of the standings and thus missing out on a tie in seventh place.
After suffering from the exuberance of the Ciociari in the first half, Torino surged in the second half, but was stopped by the woodwork. Postponed, then, was the fateful leap in quality, the one that would allow Rodriguez and his teammates to permanently fight for a place in Europe, from which Toro has been missing for too many years now. Juric after the Frosinone match, however, said he was satisfied with his team’s performance, despite the fact that they were not as concrete as in the challenge with the Dea, scrambled 3-0 at the Olimpico. The offensive one continues to be a problem to be solved: among the teams occupying the top 15 places in the standings, the Granata attack is by far the least prolific, with only 13 goals in 15 days. Empoli, Torino’s next opponent, seems to have solved – at least in part – their scoring problems, finding the way of goal in all five of their last matches.
Aurelio Andreazzoli’s Azzurri after the disastrous home loss to Sassuolo (3-4) have drawn two matches in a row: it ended 1-1 with both Genoa and Lecce, two direct competitors for salvation. In any case, the standings remain precarious, with the Tuscans third-last on equal points (12) with Udinese.

Empoli, on the other hand, is expected to take the field with the same lineup as in Lecce: the change is in attack, where Shpendi will replace the injured Caputo, flanking Cambiaghi and Cancellieri. Fazzini, Grassi and Maleh will play in midfield. Also absent will be Bereszynski.

At home Torino is always very solid, you only have to look at the numbers to see that: only 5 goals conceded in front of their home crowd by Juric’s team, compared to 7 scored. Another interesting fact comes out of the records: Torino is the team against which Empoli has drawn the most challenges in Serie A, as many as 11 out of 22. The granata will almost certainly avoid defeat this time as well, but at the same time they may struggle to keep their goal unbeaten.
