Brentford-Arsenal, Premier League: likely lineups, predictions.

by Mike

Brentford-Arsenal is a match on the 13th day of the Premier League and is played on Saturday at 6:30pm: TV, lineups, predictions.

The home air has been good for Arsenal, which after two defeats in a row suffered to West Ham and Newcastle – both away – at the Emirates Stadium beat Sevilla in the Champions League and Burnley in the league. An extremely important double success because it allowed the Gunners to mortgage qualification to the round of 16 in the cup but more importantly to remain in the thick of the Premier League title race.

The Londoners before the break had in fact taken advantage of Tottenham’s new slip at home to Wolves to overtake Spurs and move back into third place on 27 points, the same as Liverpool and one less than leading Manchester City. Now Mikel Arteta’s men must aim to improve their away performance, which has left something to be desired in the last period: Arsenal have won only one of their last five matches played away from home. The Gunners will try to reverse the trend in one of the English capital’s many derbies against Brentford, whose stadium is located in the western part of the metropolis. After the August 2021 defeat, which coincided with the Bees’ first historic Premier League victory, Arsenal has not lost at the Community Stadium since. A year ago they won 3-0 while their last success is most recent, as the two teams faced each other in the League Cup last September (0-1).

There is a season precedent in League Cup

In the field Arteta had sent an eleven packed with reserves, he played it out with most of the starters. Deciding the challenge was a Nelson goal scored after eight minutes of play.

The Bees are coming off a peremptory defeat (3-0) at Anfield against Liverpool, but before that game they had won three in a row, taking the scalps of Chelsea and West Ham, two other teams from the capital. Arsenal, in short, is on notice. Playing against Brentford, in fact, is never easy, and several biggies have dropped points at the home of the red and whites. Thomas Frank, coach of the Bees, will also have to give up Irish defender Collins, who was injured with his national team. For his part, however, Arteta can re-embrace both Odegaard and Gabriel Jesus, but only the Norwegian will start from 1′.

The Prediction

Arsenal before the break had looked a bit tarnished and had not fully convinced even in the two wins with Sevilla and Burnley. The Brentford trip hides many pitfalls: Gunners slightly favored but unlikely to keep their goal inviolate away from home for the first time since September.
