Belgium-Azerbaijan, Euro 2024 qualifiers: free-to-air TV, lineups, predictions

by Thorsten

Belgium-Azerbaijan is a match valid for the tenth day of Group F of Euro 2024 qualifiers and is played on Sunday at 6 p.m.: predictions.

There is no more verdict to be sealed within Group F. The two qualifiers for the European Championship in Germany are Austria and Belgium: all that remains is to decide who will close at the top of the table, guaranteeing themselves a small advantage when the final stage groupings are drawn. Austria is the only one who has already played 8 games and on the last day will rest (or rather, play a friendly with Germany).

Despite their victory in Estonia on Thursday, however, Ralf Rangnick’s men have not managed to secure first place: they have only two points more than Domenico Tedesco’s Red Devils, who will only need to get the better of Azerbaijan to overtake Austria and take back the top spot. As is often the case in the qualifiers, Belgium is on a rampage: in all likelihood Lukaku and his teammates will remain undefeated even after the Brussels match with the Caucasians, finishing with 20 points. So far there are four victories for Belgium, which has drawn only the matches with Austria last March and the one with Sweden – which ended 1-1 at the end of the first half due to the attacks in which two fans lost their lives – staged a month ago. It has started on the right foot, then, the adventure of the Italian-born technical commissioner, who after the disastrous Qatari World Cup took over from Roberto Martinez, now in charge of Portugal. Any judgment, however, is postponed until after the European Championship.

Belgium, first place in sights

In the Belgian capital will come an Azerbaijan rejuvenated by its surprising success against Sweden, which is increasingly in free fall.

Thursday the selection coached by Gianni De Biasi beat the Scandinavians 3-0, taking away an important satisfaction and joining them on 7 points in the standings. For the Azerbaijanis, in any case out of the game, it was the second success in the last three matches. Tedesco is expected to reintroduce Roma’s Lukaku from 1′: the Giallorossi striker remained on the bench in last Wednesday’s friendly with Serbia, which Belgium won 1-0.

The Prediction

Azerbaijan took the stage on the last day thanks to a bombastic victory over a selection as superior on paper as Sweden. In the first leg, De Biasi’s men managed to limit the damage with Belgium, losing “only” 1-0. This time we expect a rounder success from the Red Devils, who need to take back the first place. Tedesco’s selection might even manage to keep the goal unbeaten: in the Azerbaijanis’ last four official matches, the “no-goal” sign has always come out.
