After a few years in the doldrums, FC Barcelona made a comeback to the forefront of Liga predictions by winning the Spanish league title that had eluded them since 2019. The short spell in the wilderness ended brilliantly for the Catalans, who proved far more consistent than their Madrid rivals to secure 1st place in La Liga with a 10-point lead. Of course, Xavi’s men will be candidates for their own succession, although the main objective this season could be to shine again in Europe, where the Blaugrana have been struggling for several years. Winners “only” of the Spanish Cup and the European SuperCup last season, Real Madrid, of course, remain the other Pyrenean giants for Liga 2023 2024 predictions, along with Madrid’s other big club, Atlético, who returned to form last season (3rd, not so far behind Real). The Colochoneros are looking to build on the momentum of last season’s end-of-season performance and challenge for the trophy. Last but not least, a number of outsiders would like to make their mark in the title race. These include Real Sociedad, who finished 4th last season. After several years of flirting with the top 4, the Basques have finally turned the corner and are back in the Champions League. The Liga predictions should be rather open this year (open in the sense of a fierce battle between the 3 tenors), even if for the moment it’s Real who’ve got off to the best possible start with the little bit of success that’s been sticking to them for several seasons.
