Brighton-Fulham, Premier League: odds, predictions.

by Lea

Brighton-Fulham is a match of the tenth day of the Premier League and is played on Sunday at 3 pm: TV, likely formations, predictions.

This is a peculiar season for Brighton. Before this year, in fact, the Seagulls could afford the “luxury” of thinking exclusively of the league, or at most of a few domestic cups, having never had the privilege of playing in Europe.

With the double commitment instead many things change. And it is normal that Roberto De Zerbi’s team, unaccustomed to coping with such a circumstance, struggles to adapt and loses a few points along the way. It would be wrong to speak of a crisis, since Brighton is currently seventh in the standings three points behind fourth place, but in the last month the team coached by the former Sassuolo coach seems to have lost that brilliance that distinguished it at the beginning of the season. In fact, the Seagulls continue to score consistently – they boast the third most prolific attack with 22 goals in nine days – but the defense has begun to “dance” dangerously. None among the teams stationed at the top of the standings (top 10 places) have conceded more goals than Brighton (18).

A figure that was certainly affected by the six goals conceded in the ill-fated match in Birmingham against Unai Emery’s Aston Villa, which handed De Zerbi’s men a historic 6-1 thrashing.

Since that match Brighton has won only one point in two games but against the likes of Liverpool (2-2) and Manchester City (2-1). This weekend Brighton returns to play at the Amex Stadium, where Fulham is on the scene. Marco Silva’s Cottagers are doing less well than last year, when for several months they even floated in the left side of the table, finishing with a very decent 10th place. The Londoners are struggling to find continuity and, above all, goals (they have scored only 8): after the good win against Sheffield United, they came back to lose in the derby to Tottenham (2-0), victorious last Monday thanks to goals by Son and Maddison.

The prediction

Recent statistics tell us that Fulham has remained unbeaten in its last six confrontations with Brighton, a statistic certainly not to be underestimated. What is certain is that the Cottagers’ asphyxiated attack could unlock against the far from watertight defense of the Seagulls, who will also have to deal with European fatigues.

The likely Brighton-Fulham lineups

  • BRIGHTON (4-2-3-1): Verbruggen; Milner, van Hecke, Dunk, Veltman; Baleba, Gross; Adingra, Joao Pedro, Mitoma; Ferguson.
  • FULHAM (4-2-3-1): Leno; Castagne, Bassey, Ream, Robinson; Palhinha, Reed; Wilson, Pereira, Willian; Vinicius.

POSSIBLE RESULT: 2-1
