Tottenham-Fulham is a match of the ninth day of the Premier League and is played on Monday at 9 pm: TV, probable formations, predictions.
The ninth day of the Premier League closes with the London derby at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium between hosts Spurs and Fulham. Ange Postecoglou’s team arrived at its second stop of the season even as the first in the class: it shares the top spot with cousins Arsenal (20 points) but so far has done better than teams that are superior to it on paper such as Manchester City and Liverpool, at -2 and -3, respectively.
A surprising start, if we consider that in the summer Tottenham lost a pillar like Harry Kane and relied on a coach who had never coached before not only in the Premier League but in a top European league. And instead, Postecoglou has had the merit of striking the right chords, returning serenity to a locker room frayed by a disastrous season that ended with Spurs out of everything. Son and his teammates never give up daring, trying to dominate the game, as the former Celtic coach demands. The result is that after 8 days they have not lost yet – the only unbeaten team together with Arsenal – collecting 6 wins and 2 draws. And the attack, despite being orphaned by Kane, runs like a charm: it has always scored at least one goal and has never scored less than two, with the exception of the last match with Luton (0-1).
In the postponement Spurs meet Fulham again, which they already faced last Aug. 29 in the League Cup in a match that ended in penalty kicks (1-1) and was won by the Cottagers.
A match in any case to be taken with a grain of salt, as Postecoglou on that occasion made many starters to rest. Marco Silva’s team has been very erratic so far, a far cry from last season, in which it came close to Europe. In the last four matches, however, the Bianconeri have lost only to Chelsea, beating Luton and Sheffield United and drawing with Crystal Palace. Silva has to do without Diop and Adarabioyo, but Postecoglou is worse off: he will be missing the disqualified Bissouma and two starters like Son and Romero, who returned from their respective national teams, are in high doubt.
The Prediction
You can’t expect to go against this Tottenham side, which is really surprising everyone. Spurs, although struggling with a few defections, will also get the better of Fulham, in a match that – as has often happened so far – could be decided in the second half.
