Monza v Bologna, Serie A: streaming, odds, predictions

Monza-Bologna is a Serie A Week 6 match played on Thursday at 18:30: odds, predictions, TV and streaming

After five league matches Bologna have one point more than Monza, but neither side is on the left side of the table, which would be the goal for both this season. The brianzoli have collected only five points, not a lot for a team that last year surprised everyone and gave everyone a hard time, even giving the feeling of being able to fight for more ambitious goals than salvation.

Raffaele Palladino’s biancorossi got off to a slow start, probably suffering from some market choices that saw practically only exits. In fact, Monza only got the better of the disastrous Empoli, losing the two Lombardy derbies against Atalanta and Inter, and gaining their first away point last Saturday at the Olimpico against Lazio (1-1). In the capital, the same attitude of last season was seen again, albeit in flashes, with the Brianza side having even more chances than Maurizio Sarri’s Biancocelesti, who were almost immediately caught again thanks to a goal from former Inter player Gagliardini. For Palladino’s side it was the second draw in a row after the 1-1 draw with Lecce: the attack, one of the least prolific (4) in Serie A, is lacking. Bologna, another team with impeccable organisation, are also scoring in droves, building a lot but struggling to finish: Thiago Motta’s Rossoblù, who have barely scored three goals in five matches, came away unscathed from their match against Napoli on Sunday, recording their second blank-net draw in a week.

Monza-Bologna: latest line-up news

Monza have suffered a serious injury to Caprari, who may have ended his season prematurely. Not good news for Palladino, who already had little choice in attack. In defence, there will be space for Caldirola, while Izzo and D’Ambrosio will compete for a shirt. Ciurria is a candidate for the left wing but will have to contend with Kyriakopoulos. Finally, Colpani and Mota will act behind the only forward, Colombo.

Bologna’s main absences are in defence, where both Posch and Lucumì will be missing. Chance for former Roma player Calafiori, ready to pair up with Beukema. Orsolini in the back three should be the winner in the battle with Ndoye.

The prediction

In the only two previous fixtures in Serie A, the away side always won. Bologna will be hoping that this trend will be confirmed, not least because the Felsinei have gone undefeated in their last five matches away from the capital of Emilia. Judging by the latest outings of both sides, however, the one at the U-Power Stadium looms as an extremely balanced match, in which the total number of goals could be less than four. A draw cannot be ruled out.

The likely line-up for Monza v Bologna

  • MONZA (3-4-2-1): Di Gregorio; Izzo, Pablo Marì, Caldirola; Birindelli, Pessina, Gagliardini, Ciurria; Colpani, Mota; Colombo.
