Bundesliga, predictions day 4: matches Saturday 3:30 p.m.

by Mark

Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund is also on the pitch: the yellow-and-whites’ is, for now, a false start. Leipzig hosts Augsburg.

It is a slow start that of Borussia Dortmund. Edin Terzic’s yellow-and-whites are perhaps struggling to recover from what happened last May, when they squandered a colossal chance right at the photo finish, effectively “handing” their 11th title in a row to rivals Bayern Munich. Emre Can and his teammates’ season started quietly: after the narrow victory over Cologne in the opener, two consecutive draws came.

Against two approachable opponents Bochum and Heidenheim Borussia Dortmund failed to win, drawing 1-1 and 2-2 respectively. The points to make up on Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen, the only two with full points, are already four. To understand whether the break will have benefited Borussia or not, we have to wait for the Freiburg match: Christian Streich’s men had started off on the right foot, racking up two successes in a row (Hoffenheim and Werder Bremen), but before the break they were literally and unexpectedly overwhelmed by Stuttgart, which got the better of them even 5-0 at the Mercedes Benz Arena. Defeat that may have left some aftermath, which is why it is safe to assume that the Yellow and Black will manage to return to Dortmund with points in their pockets in a match with at least one goal on each side. Stuttgart, on the other hand, will try to give continuity to the overflowing performance with Freiburg in the away match in Mainz, against a team that has not yet tasted the joy of three points: the Swabians can avoid defeat.

The predictions on the other matches

Leipzig bounced back immediately after their debut defeat in the direct clash with Bayer Leverkusen: first, they rifled five goals at Stuttgart and then three at Union Berlin.

For the Roten Bullen there is now an on paper easy engagement against Augsburg, which away from home is usually less treacherous. In the coming week, Leonardo Bonucci’s Union Berlin will play the first Champions League match in its history, facing Real Madrid in the mythical “Bernabeu.” Such an important engagement at the gates could distract the capital formation, which two weeks ago was annihilated by Leipzig (0-3). Wolfsburg, intent on turning over a new leaf after the defeat in Sinsheim against Hoffenheim, can take advantage of this by bringing home at least a point against the Berliners.
